Byeol stood by the window, the cold breeze blowing her stray hair as she stares at the zombie-infested ground. Her mind going back to her past encounters with the zombies. Why does the zombies ignore her? Can it be possible that she's the cure or immune? But those zombies were already dead and the decomposing process has already started which explains the foul odor of them. You can't bring back the deceased so being the cure could be not it.

It remains as a hypothesis unless proven with more concrete evidence but she couldn't just go out of this room without being suspicious. What if she wasn't really invisible to them? What if the reason why she was ignore is because she doesn't have a brain or her blood's not appealing to them? It could also be a possible theory but it will still end in one conclusion, that she's invisible from zombies' radar. It could be their advantage if proven, she could assist them as they leave while minimizing the risk.

A presence beside her pulls her out of her train of thoughts and through her peripheral vision, she could see that it was Gyeong-su.

After the confrontation, they silently agreed to let the guy process all of what happened first before they comfort him. It's hard for him especially after knowing that he nearly died---he nearly got killed and he wasn't even aware of it. Imagine how confused he would be if he suddenly got infected after 30 minutes of self-quarantine.

"Byeol-ah," Gyeong-su calls her in soft voice, "Thank you for earlier. I owe you my life."

Byeol turns to Gyeong-su, a pensive look plasters on her whole face, "You don't owe me anything, Gyeong-su. I just did what I have to do. I saw you getting bullied and I can't bare to turn a blind eye. Witnessing someone being treated unfairly without reasonable context and turning a blind eye on it is just the same as conducting the maltreatment yourself. No one deserves to be bullied whether it was verbal or physical." she explains.

"I must admit that I like this Byeol more. The Byeol in the past is too sweet and kind that it's becoming annoying." Gyeong-su chuckles.

Byeol turns to him, "Why? What am I before?"

"You're the most kindest person I've ever met. You're so soft-spoken and cries when we kill flies. You're so kind that people takes advantage of you." said Gyeong-su.

Byeol's brows furrows in confusion, "What makes it annoying though? If I have a friend that kind, I'm not going to let them go."

Gyeong-su shakes his head in disapproval, "You're too kind that it becomes a problem. There's that one time that your wallet was snatched and you let the culprit ran away even though me and Cheong-san could handle it. You said that maybe he has a family to feed and you even cried," he heaves a sigh, "It's really good to have a kind friend but I prefer you being able to stand up for yourself and for the others. Your kindness in the past is really alarming. If you're the same Byeol in the past, I won't be surprise if you suddenly offer yourself to the zombies because you felt bad for them."

"Anyway, I'm really thankful of what you did, for standing up for me and saving my life. If there's a time that you will need saving, I won't hesitate to jump and save you." the guy added.

Byeol responded with a stern glare, "You know what I want you to do?"

"What?"

"Don't jump into trouble if you know that you can't handle it. I'm going to be so mad at you if you sacrifice yourself for me." the lass answered.

"But you'll do it for me--for any of us in a heart beat so why can't I?" Gyeong-su pouted.

"Because I know I can handle it and I'm aware of the consequences that will follow. No matter how rush it is, I'll always have a back-up plan, that's what you guys should remember," she responded in stern voice, "I won't go into a battle without a weapon. That's stupid and suicidal."

Gyeong-su nodded, patting the girl on top of her head, "Thank you, Byeol-ah."

When he walks away, Cheong-san replaces him. They stood beside each other in silence, just staring at the massive field and watching as the zombies outside roam around mindlessly.

"I wonder what's going on outside, if our parents managed to survive just like we do," Cheong-san broke the silence.

"My mom's in Seoul and my Dad's in Ulsan so they'll be fine. I'm sure your parents are safe in your restaurant." Byeol responded in soft voice, stepping closer to Cheong-san to seek for the warmth he radiates.

"Umm," Cheong-san nodded, "The restaurant is so important for Mom. She maybe selling chickens to the zombies too."

"Probably. Even the zombies can't say  no to the chicken your parents sell. It's really tasty." Byeol smiles.

Cheong-san turns to her, smiling warmly as he grab her hand and intertwines it together, "I'll make my mom cook for you when we get out of here. She'll be glad to cook for you, she might even like you more than her own son."

"No one could hate me, I'm amazing," Byeol smirked and shrug, "Maybe I can invite Mom and Dad too. Mom do really enjoy the really spicy one and she couldn't wait for the store to finally open."

Cheong-san smiles at her, his dimples showing as his eyes twinkle, "Let's do that."

Silence reigns after that, just the group sitting around the room as they stare in the distance. Cheong-san pulled two chairs together so the two of them could sit. Byeol's head is leaning on Cheong-san's head as she doze off while the lad's been massaging her hand non-stop.

"I didn't hear anything," he later on spoke, "I just couldn't hear anything."

"What do you mean?" Su-hyeok asks him.

"When Nayeon and Ms. Park went out, there's no screaming." Cheong-san answers. Byeol stood straight but her eyes starting to close so she unknowingly slaps her cheek to wake herself up to which Cheong-san turn to her in worry but Byeol just blinked, widening her eyes so it wouldn't drop back.

"Maybe they didn't die, then?" Dae-su suggested, "They wouldn't have been quiet if zombies were biting them. They must be alive."

Silence...

"Why won't you respond? I'm talking to myself again," the bear pouted, "No one answers me, I'm always talking to myself."

"I think you're right," On-jo agrees regarding to his speculation earlier.

"Forget it.." but the bear sulked.

"I didn't hear anything, either."

"Me too. I was scared because I didn't know how I'd feel if I heard them scream.."

Byeol's eyes started to fall down again so as her head but everytime her head will fall, she'll wake up again and repeat the process. She's very tired because of the exhausting day but she tried to stay up because no one knows what the future holds for them. She might be asleep when something bad happens and she won't forgive herself if she dies in this universe without having to fight until her last breath.

Her head falls again but this time, Cheong-san caught it, slowly leaning her head on his shoulder, "It's fine. You can sleep, you did so much today and you deserve a rest. I'll look out for you and wake you up if something happens."

"Promise?" Byeol tiredly asks and in Cheong-san's eyes, she looks like a vulnerable sleepy kid, not a valiant zombie slayer with a smart mouth.

"I promise," the lad responded in soft voice that only them could hear.

Byeol let her eyes to drop as she moves around to find a comfortable position which is closer to Cheong-san. Before she could fall into a thankfully dreamless sleep, she barely felt the softness and warmth of a blanket that hugs her figure.

The shuffling caught On-jo's attention and her eyes turned soft at the sight of her two childhood best friend. Just like the old times. She reaches for the blanket on one of the chair and stood up to place the blanket over Byeol, tucking it in so she won't get cold since it's a chilly night and she's literally in front of the window where the wind is blowing cold.

"Does anyone else have to go to the bathroom by any chance?"
