Hyosan wasn't completely destroyed. The bombing was isolated. Aside from the occassional cadaver lying on the streets, blood and internal organs everywhere, as well as the foul odor that the streets are covered with, it was relatively silent.
The military had eradicated the remaining zombies in some places in Hyosan, the sound of gunshots all over the place never cease until almost a month. They were everywhere, patrolling all over the place to look and kill the zombies in their attempt of controlling the virus.
The hambies hide from them, using their enhanced senses for their advantage until they settle on a private apartment building where the Han-Jung house was located.
Everything was in the same state that they left it aside from the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room that shatters because of the explosion. The apartment building was messy with blood and cadavers lying around the hallway but their unit was clean.
Nam-ra and Cheong-san now live in the same building as them, taking the empty units from the lower floor while the family of three stayed in their unit. So far, the military haven't caught them.
Bom have finally adjusted to the new diet of her love ones and Hyun had found an alternative instead of eating the undead. Forest Animals could work the same, albeit not that effective than what they're supposed to eat but it is enough to satisfy their hunger. They also learned that the more they embraces the virus, the more it works better for them.
"Venom is like the virus and we are Eddie. It's not all about biological compatibility but more on understanding and adapting to fusion." Byeol stated once when Cheong-san and Nam-ra's hanging out on her bedroom.
"You know, you should stop reading comics. Where did you even got that?" Nam-ra had told her that night after seeing the new comics that she had been reading.
The military action had ceased after a full month of patrolling so by then, they were already free to go out and explore the city again. Hyosan was still cut off from the whole world so entertainment is scarce and should be creative. Byeol took it as her job to scour the Hyosan for possible entertainment that doesn't require the use of internet or gadget.
Water is another problem for them too. The water supply's already murky because of the lack of maintence and it wouldn't be that long before it stops working completely. However, the tanks and the rivers serves as their back up. Food is not a problem for the hambies but it is for Bom. Thankfully, there are many stores and malls around Hyosan that they could get their supplies.
"Byeol-ah? Are you going out with Cheong-san?" Bom had asked her daughter after noticing that she was clad in a beautiful dress. The couple are inseparable, always out of their houses together and do whatever they want to do. Just like last week. Byeol had helped Cheong-san into cleaning the Cheong-san Chicken and help him pack some clothes so he could move on the apartment.
It's not like he wanted to leave their house but the memories sending him closer to the edge of insanity and Byeol was the only one who could pull him away. And the parents had suggested that living closely to each other would be better if there's an emergency.
Just as she said it, the sound of the door opening took their attention as the familiar scent of her beloved wafts through her nose, a smile made its way on her lips.
"Hi, Auntie!" Cheong-san greeted Bom, his deep voice and the white eye patch contrasting the bright smile on his face. He got taller and more vibrant than in the past but you could see the maturity on the way he acts and carry himself. He's not the same Kid Cheong-san a couple of months ago, he matured due to the hard circumstances that they were forced into.
