To say that they were shocked is an understatement as Byeol stops in front of them with Hyun and Cheong-san on either side of her. They were covered with blood and ashes, Cheong-san has a fabric covering his eye just like Nam-ra earlier but the fabric has a map of blood seeping through it. He was crouching and very pale and he was holding onto Byeol's hand tightly. Meanwhile, Hyun's eyes are focused on Bom's, the latter shedding tears with her hand covering her mouth and shoulders moving as she sobs. Hyun wanted to hug her wife but choose to just smile, the same charming smile he only reserves for his wife and daughter.
Byeol's head tilted, hearing the incoming footsteps of the zombies before turning to the others, "I don't think you guys should fight. You're nearing the finish line and I don't want any of you to die from here. There are four us, enough to fight those zombies."
"We're not leaving you here to fight, it's our lives that we are fighting for." Su-hyeok stated.
"And that live will be put to risk if you do this," Hyun retaliated softly, "You've been through so much and it would be a shame if one of you dies when you're nearing the finish line."
"The only thing that you can do to help us is to stay alive." Cheong-san added and it is evident on his voice that he was crying for a long time.
"We're just doing this for all of you," Byeol stated, turning around as the snarls of the zombies reach even the hearing of the non-infecteds, "and it is not up for a debate."
"Byeol.." Bom calls her daughter softly, holding out a shining black combat knife, "You're a natural with knives."
Byeol didn't know where she dropped her switch knife but it got lost somewhere between their escape from tennis court and to the construction site.
The lass smiles, grabbing the knife from her mother as she twirls it around her fingers, scanning everyone in front of her, "Stay back and engage only if necessary. Leave this to us." she said before she turns around.
Byeol and Cheong-san stood at the middle of the street with both Hyun and Nam-ra at either side of them. They were spread around, acting like a barrier to the non-infecteds as the first zombie came barelling towards them from an alleyway.
Byeol's eyes sharpen into a glare, breaking away from Cheong-san's hand as she sprint to meet the zombies halfway.
She met the zombie with a high kick on its temple, sending it to the ground before she moves to stab the next zombie right at the middle of its forehead.
That one zombie Byeol had kick twitches, getting up but fell back again when its skull was bashed with a metal baseball bat, Cheong-san making sure that zombie was dead before moving to another one that went pass Byeol.
Meanwhile, Hyun and Nam-ra stayed behind, the baseball star using his pistol to shoot the zombies before they could step 10 meters from where he stood. Nam-ra on the other hand takes the one that went pass the trio, snapping their necks as the mark around her eye becomes a vibrant red.
The group of non-infecteds were all alert, holding their own weapons but didn't engage like what Byeol had told them. Bom and So-ju stood a little forward from the kids while they stay behind the olders.
"Should we help them?" Mi-jin asks out loud as her grip on the makeshift spear tightens, adjusting her stance.
"I don't think so. They look like they can really handle this." Gyeong-su answered, flinching everytime the gunshot reverberates around the street.
"We're just going to distract them if we engage," Ha-ri mentioned, "and we are helping by not distracting them."
"Aish, She's really cool," Mi-jin murmurs as she watch Byeol grab a zombie behind her by its shoulder before flipping it and smashing its body on the ground, executing an aerial cartwheel on top of the zombie before stabbing the one in front of her.
"Does being a Hambie includes suddenly being better in fighting?" Wujin asks, hissing when he witness how Nam-ra grab a zombie from its jaw and twisting its neck to the side before throwing the now dead zombie on the ground like it was nothing.
Joon-yeong shakes his head, "No, Byeol has technique that is impossible to be natural."
"Bro, I was talking about Nam-ra. Byeol's a daughter of a military personnel, of course she could fight." Wu-jin retaliated.
"Well, Su-hyeok might need a good luck then," Dae-su tap the taller guy on the shoulder.
"Honestly, guys," Su-hyeok told them in disbelief, "You're really doing a commentary while they are fighting zombies?"
The guys shrug their shoulder in unison, focusing all of their attention on the fight in front of them.
With the teamwork of 4 hambies, they managed to kill all of the zombies on the horde that attacked them, Byeol pulling out the knife lodged on the eye of a zombie as the blood spluttered out from the wound. She wipe the blood on her track jacket, standing up while cracking her neck and massaging her shoulders.
Bom releases a sigh, sprinting towards her daughter but the younger took a couple steps back, holding her bloody hand up, "Wait, I'm literally bathing with Zombie blood."
She unzips the zipper of her track jacket, removing it and revealing the white shirt inside, "Wow, this jacket is the best." she commented when she notices that there are minimal spots of red that stains the otherwise white shirt.
Bom's eyes widen at the hole on her daughter's shirt and blood mapping around it, "Yah, did you get stabbed?" she didn't even care if her daughter's covered with blood as she check her daughter for any injury.
"Yes, when I fell from the scaffolding," she answered nonchalantly like she's talking about the weather, "but it's fine now. I think? It's not lethal."
"Not lethal?! My baby was stabbed on the stomach and fell on great heights!" Bom fretted.
Hyun shakes his head, walking towards the mother-daughter duo, "Bom-ah, she's fine. We can heal faster than the non-infecteds."
Bom glared at him and was about to give him a piece of her mind but Nam-ra butted in, "There's more coming. Let's go, I don't think the 4 of us could handle them."
"If we run away now, we could get away. We will have enough time if we go now," Nam-ra continues.
"Let's go," Hyun pulls his wife away as the others turn around and start walking-running away.
Cheong-san walks towards Byeol, intertwining their hands again, "Can you put the handcuffs again?"
Byeol whip her head to look at Cheong-san, "What? Why?"
The lad gulped as his face morph into an expression of pain, "I-I don't feel good."
Byeol nodded in understanding, pulling the handcuffs from the pocket of her trouser and handcuffing their hands together, "You're fine. I'm not going to leave you."
Cheong-san nodded before they run together to catch up with the group.
