Chapter 2

Veronica's POV
That same noise from the door went off and I immediately hid behind the couch.

"That was just the doorbell. I'll go see who's here."

I didn't see her walk over to the door. I heard it open and held my breath.

"Hi Miss.Kim! I brought you those pies you ordered."

"Thank you Jacob. Did a lot of people buy from your class?"

"Yeah. We have enough for the trip now. I'm so excited."

That's the boy I heard on the radio?

I should say "Hi."

Maybe he's nice.

I stood up and slowly walked over to the door. I saw a tall boy with light brown hair and green eyes.

He's so hot!

"This is my niece Veronica."

"H-hi."

"Hi!"

"I-I heard you on the radio. I like your song."

"Thank you! I don't think I've ever seen you before. Where are you from?"

Ummm.

Shit!

"She's from two blocks over."

"Oh!"

My aunt handed me two see through containers. The one on top said "Apple Pie."

This looks so good.

"Are you going to school here?"

"I'm not sure yet. It'd be nice. I've been homeschooled all my life."

"I tried that. It wasn't for me. I missed my friends."

"Do you want to come in?"

"Oh no. I can't today. I have a lot of homework. Thanks though Miss. Kim."

"You don't have to use "Miss." It makes me feel old."

"My bad. I forgot you don't like that."

"No worries."

"If I can, I'll stop by tomorrow. I have to go. I told my mom I wouldn't be long. It was nice meeting you Veronica."

"Y-you too."

He walked away and my aunt shut the door.

"Can I try this?"

"Of course!"

I brought the pies into the dining room and put them on the table. She gave me a slice of the apple pie and I started eating it.

"I like this. Thank you."

"You can have more if you want. You should eat something. You look unwell."

"Mom and dad don't let me eat really."

"Eat whenever you want and how much you want. You're safe here."

"Can I go to school here? I-I want friends."

"Sure."
