Chapter 6

Veronica's POV
I love hearing him sing.

His voice is so soothing.

I felt someone take the left ear bud out of my ear.

"Listening to anything good?"

I jumped a bit. I looked and saw Nancy was next to me.

"Oh I'm sorry. I totally DID mean to scare you."

I gulped.

"What's so special about you? What does he see in you huh?"

"I-I-I'm not sure."

She started scanning my body.

"Hmm...."

What does that mean?

"You got uglier since yesterday."

I looked down.

"Nancy leave her alone."

I looked to my right and saw another girl.

"Why should I?"

"She's only been here for a few days. She's not a threat as of right now."

"But she's going to steal him away!"

I guess.. I do always fuck up.

Story of my life.

I just sat there and listened to every word. I put my book and phone away.

I must listen to what she says so I don't get in trouble.

Don't speak unless spoken to.

Don't look until she makes you.

"You must think you're hot shit huh?"

I shook my head.

"I'm sorry. I didn't hear you."

"Nancy leave her alone!"

"No! She needs to know her place!"

I gulped. My heart started racing.

That's what dad said that day!

"HEY!"

Lakelyn?

I heard someone running up the bleachers.

"Dude back off! She's done nothing wrong!"

"Um she's friends with Jacob. That should be me."

"My brother obviously doesn't like you back so you should really drop it!"

"I'll get him. I always get the guy."

"This guy doesn't want you!"

I think I want the guy!

"Why can't you see that?!"

"I hope she drops dead!"

My eyes widened.

That's the first time someone that's not a relative has hoped I died....

"Here. I'll be nice and help you out."

Nancy ran back to her stuff.

"I'm really sorry about her."

I saw Nancy running back. With a few girls. She pulled something out of her bag. She took out a blade and handed it to me.

"Make yourself bleed."

I shook my head. Nancy grabbed my wrists.

"Let's see."
