                           "I'm bulletproof."

Jade entered the werewolf's house, walking up the stone gravel to the door that was already left unlocked.

The first thing that she noticed was that it was very dusty. It didn't look like a suitable place for anyone to live without getting ill. Chunks of the walls were missing here and there and the ceiling looked like it would cave in at any second. "Derek?" she called out. Her voice echoed eerily through the seemingly empty house.

She wandered up the creaky stairs and into a room, where she found the Hale doing push ups on the floor. Music was loudly playing in the background, blasting through a speaker that was on a box.

"That can't be very sanitary, can it?" she questioned, an amused look on her face as she ran her finger against the doorframe, grimacing when dust was left there.

"What do you want?" he replied, getting to his feet.

"What is wrong with people today? Why so much hostility?" she asked. When he didn't respond, she continued. "I want to know why you pulled the claws out on Jackass."

"It was after I had been hit with the wolfsbane bullet, I didn't have control," he stated simply, as if it was obvious.

"What if he dies because his cut gets infected?"

"Well, then that's kind of his fault. I told him he should get it checked out."

Chewing the inside of her cheek to prevent herself from laughing, the music was suddenly cut off. The two shared a worried look, before the front door was kicked in.

Jade quickly threw her hand out, the door to the room that the pair of them were in closing soundlessly. Turning her hand to the left, the door quietly locked.

Derek glanced at her curiously. For such a young witch, she had a lot of control over her powers. The stunt with the hunters the other day, also showed that she was apparently very advanced. Well, advanced for her age, anyway.

"He's here. He's just not feeling very hospitable," a female voice taunted.

"Hunters," Jade whispered, looking at the Hale. "Kate Argent," he whispered back to her.

"Maybe he's out in the backyard burying a bone," a new voice said, snickering at his own joke.

"Seriously? A dog joke? We're going there and that's the best you've got?" Kate questioned. "If you wanna provoke him, say something like 'too bad your sister bit it before she had her first litter."

Jade could sense Derek's rising anger, stomping on his foot in warning. "Don't even think about it," she hissed, but the man paid her no attention.

"Too bad she howled like a bitch when we cut her in half!" Kate continued, now yelling.

Derek growled and burst through the door Jade had locked, leaving a hole in the wood. "Seriously!" she whispered, exasperated. She probably should have put a stronger spell on the door, but she hadn't exactly expected him to run through it!

One of the male hunters got thrown across the room, courtesy of the pissed Hale. A crunch of bones echoed around the room. Another male hunter pointed his shotgun at Derek, prepared to fire.

Knowing that she would regret this later, she rounded the corner quickly. She fired a spell at the man, purple whisps flying out of her hand. The hunter got fired into the opposite wall. He settled in a heap on the ground, knocked unconscious. She swiftly turned back behind the wall, grimacing. She knew that she could have possibly revealed herself to a deadly hunter, but she wasn't going to let Derek die, even if she didn't like him that much.
