              "Everybody wants to rule
                            the world."

"How come Jade is allowed to sit with the Argents?" Scott questioned. It was the day of Kate's funeral and he was hiding behind a gravestone with Max and Stiles.

"Emotional support," Max replied.

"I think she's the one who needs emotional support. No offence," Stiles commented. He was referring to Jade's breakdown in the corridors earlier that day.

"Yeah. I think I might suggest for her to go back to the guidance counsellor," Max replied. He was worried that she wasn't dealing with their parents death as well as she said she was. He already went to Ms Morrell once a week. When they had moved to Beacon Hills, Melissa booked the two in for separate sessions with the counsellor. Jade went to two sessions, but stopped going when the woman suggested that she was having survivors guilt from the accident, which was causing her suicidal thoughts. Jade protested and bitched about her when she got home, but Max silently agreed with Ms Morrell.

"I knew this was a bad idea," Chris whispered to his wife. The group had just had to fight their way through huge amounts of reporters and photographers.

"Well it wasn't my idea!" Victoria replied.

"I tried to tell him but he insisted on making a point of it," Chris whispered back.

"Well if he insisted, then he can deal with this when he gets here," the redhead spat.

"When who get's here?" Allison asked. Jade silently thanked the girl for asking the question she had been dying to ask.

"Just sit down sweetheart," Victoria responded, pointing at the chairs. Well that was vague. The teenager sat down, Jade taking the seat next to her. The crowd seemed to get more restless, starting to shout now. Allison started to dig her nails into her leg, a habit she had when she was anxious. Jade grabbed the brunette's hand, squeezing it tightly. She sent her a small smile of reassurance.

The crowds quietened and she let out a sigh of relief. A few minutes passed, the two girls staying silent.

A man walked towards Chris, wearing a black suit. "Christopher," he said, pulling the man into a hug.

Victoria stood, the man pulling her into a hug too. "I'm so sorry," the woman whispered. Jade cast a glance at Allison who was looking on edge. She couldn't blame her though, considering they were at her aunt's funeral.

The stranger turned to the girls, staring them down. "Do you remember me?" he asked Allison. She silently nodded, and if the blonde hadn't been looking, she wouldn't have even noticed the movement. The brunette sent a quick glance to the gravestone where the three boys where sitting. The adults looked over there, but they had hidden. That could have ended badly.

"Considering I haven't seen you since you were there, I don't suppose I can ask you to call me Grandpa. So, if it's comfortable, call me Gerard for the time being," he said. Of course he was an Argent. Things just had to get worse. "But I'd prefer Grandpa."

"Sorry, I don't think we've been introduced before. I'm Gerard," he said, holding his hand out for Jade to shake. There was something off about him. Something eerie. She assumed he was a hunter, but there was something else about him. Something darker.

Mustering up a small smile, she shook his hand. "Nice to meet you." That was a lie. "I'm Jade, a friend of Allison's," she replied.

"Nice to meet you too," he said, taking the seat next to her. Great. Just great.
