Chapter 3: First Day Of Being A Slave Part 1I sat there listening to Aries explaining me the rules.
"Don't talk back to your master or any other vampire. Don't touch your master unless they tell you to. You must do everything as your told by your master. You must be ready at the door 7 am sharp ready to do what your told. And if you try to escape, let's just say you wish you hadn't attempted to do it." he grimly said.
Ok, I can do this, hopefully. I never knew such vampires are lazy asses. Aries gave me an amused grin which I didn't know why.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Here," he says, handing me an alarm clock with a bow on it. That was thoughtful of him.
"Thank you. I wasn't sure how I was going to get up at 7 in the morning without a clock," I say, smiling gratefully. He laughs.
"No problem. I should warn you, though. Tristan is very cruel, so be careful what you say and do. If anything happens, just call me in your mind and I'll come."
Call him with my mind? That's weird but kind of cool.
"Are you a vampire too?" I ask, feeling a bit foolish.
"Yes, a royal blue-blooded purebred one," he replies sadly. I feel like I should comfort him.
"What's a royal blue-blooded purebred?" I asked.
"My, my, you have so many questions, little one. That's a story for another day. But I will say that we vampires have powers. Mine include the mind-call ability and reading thoughts."
Holy crap, he can read my thoughts? I blush as his laughter echoes in the room.
"Don't worry. I'll try not to, but it's hard. Especially when someone feels strong emotions, I can't control it and it just comes to me. The only minds I can't read are the king's and queen's, but I can sense something from them," he says with a shrug.
"That sounds like one big headache," I say, and he laughs again.
"It was at first, when I was young. Now I've learned to control it."
Wow, this vampire seemed more human, making me forget what he was. He says goodbye, leaving me alone in this hellhole of a room. I sit there, trying to process everything. Then I become even more terrified. Aries had said if I tried to escape, nothing good would come of it. My stomach growls, interrupting my thoughts. A knock sounds at the door, and I yell, "Come in."
A young woman in an apron, who looks to be in her mid-twenties and is quite pretty, enters.
"Sir Aries thought you might need to eat something. Will pizza be fine?" she asks. Pizza? That's my favorite.
"Yes, I love pizza. Thank you," I say, smiling. She nods and leaves.
"Thank you, Aries," I say in my mind.
"No problem," he responds. I'm shocked that it actually worked. I was hoping he wouldn't respond, but he did. Twenty minutes later, I eat my pizza quickly because I'm starving. Then I feel myself getting sleepy. I lie down on the hard bed and silently cry.
I was awakened by the sound of the door creaking open. My heart leaped into my throat as Tristan stepped inside, his expression unreadable.
"Good, you're awake," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. "Follow me."
I scrambled to my feet, my heart racing. He led me down a series of corridors until we reached a grand hall. The room was opulent, with high ceilings and lavish decorations, a stark contrast to the dungeon-like cell and the dingy room I had been in.
"Stay here," Tristan commanded, and I stood frozen as he walked away to speak with another vampire. I glanced around, noticing other humans moving about, carrying trays and cleaning. They looked terrified and exhausted.
I was lost in my thoughts when a harsh voice snapped me back to reality. "Hey, you! Move it!" A burly vampire grabbed my arm, dragging me to a corner of the hall. "You're to serve drinks at the prince's feast tonight."
I nodded mutely, my mind racing. A feast? What did that mean for me?
As the preparations began, I was handed a tray of goblets filled with a dark, thick liquid. Blood. I forced myself to keep a neutral expression. I couldn't afford to show weakness.
The hall filled with vampires, their conversations a low hum of sinister elegance. Tristan sat at the head of the table, with two other men sitting beside him. Aries was there too, looking slightly more relaxed but still alert. Then we made eye contact until I broke his gaze.
As I served the drinks, I felt Tristan's eyes on me, a predatory gaze that sent shivers down my spine. I stumbled, nearly dropping a goblet, and his lips curled into a cruel smile.
"Careful, little slave," he taunted. "Wouldn't want to make a mess."
I swallowed hard and nodded, continuing my task with trembling hands.
The night seemed to stretch on forever. The vampires were in high spirits, their laughter and conversation filling the hall. I kept my head down, doing my best to remain unnoticed.
Finally, the feast ended, and I was left to clean up the mess. As I worked, I felt a presence behind me. I turned to see Tristan, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
"You did well tonight," he said, his tone almost approving. "Perhaps you might survive longer than I expected."
I didn't know how to respond, so I simply nodded. He stepped closer, and I tensed, fearing another attack. But he just watched me for a moment before turning away.
"Remember, little slave," he said over his shoulder. "Obey, and you might just live to see another day."
Back in my room, I collapsed onto the bed, exhaustion washing over me. My body ached, and my mind was a whirlwind of fear and confusion. I didn't know what the future held, but I knew I had to survive. For now, that meant following Tristan's orders and hoping for the best.
I closed my eyes, trying to block out the horrors of the day. But even in sleep, I couldn't escape the nightmare I was living.
A sharp beeping noise pierced the silence, jolting me from my sleep. Groggily, I looked at the clock. The red numbers blinked back at me: 6:30 AM. I dragged myself out of bed, heading for the bathroom.
The shower was quick but refreshing. As I stepped out, I realized I had no clothes. Panic set in for a moment before I noticed a neatly folded set of clothing on the bed. Who had put them there? A maid? A sneaky vampire? Whoever it was, I was grateful. The shirt was simple and long, paired with dark capri pants. After dressing, I found a toothbrush and toothpaste and quickly brushed my teeth. Slipping on my shoes, I glanced at the clock again. 6:57 AM. I had little time to get to Tristan's room.
I hurried through the hallways, my heart pounding. I wasn't sure how long it would take, but I had to be on time. As I reached what I hoped was the right door, it swung open to reveal Tristan, his expression menacing.
"You're late, slave," he snarled.
"Time to be punished." His smirk was pure malice.
