Chapter 34: No Options Left

Rene p.o.v

Marcus face was losing his color a bit. He held on to the phone with a tight grip as he spoke. "Not at the house? How did they manage to get by you Luther? You're a vampire. Don't you have super good  hearing?"  Marcus questions. Marcus made a quick yes and no's. He hung up the phone looking relieved. He quickly walked towards us.

"I'm guessing that was Luther?" I asked.

"Yes, he's wondering where you guys at. I assume the Prince isn't awake yet. Thank goodness though, I don't think I can hold my composure with him." He said nervously at the end of his sentence.

"We should probably head back then." Janice says and I agreed.

" That settles then. We'll get that book Marcus and return to you with it. On that note, let's order a coffee so it can seem like we went out for coffee." I say. Janice nods. We bid Marcus a goodbye and walked over to Starbucks again. This time Janice went in as I waited in the car. I studied the outside world. It felt strange being out here as I watched people pass by me. There was something on the ground and I took my seatbelt off so I can get a better look. On the wet ground was a flyer of Dana. I gasped. It was a high school picture of her smiling.

Her dark brown hair flowed effortlessly over her shoulder and a smile graced on her face. The flyer reads
I'm Dana Bryers. Have you seen me? If so please call. There was a number below. Emotions washed over me. Mr. and Mrs. Bryers must be going through it. That means my parents and Janice's parents were too. My eyes started to water. If I only could tell them what happened, but everything would be complicated and dangerous.

"Okay, I have a latte and two blueberry muffin." Janice says smiling. Janice finally turns to me.

"Rene, what happened?"
I shook my head fighting the emotions so I could speak. Definitely wouldn't want to worry my friend.

"Saw a flyer of Dana. Her parents looking for her. Made me think of our parents looking for us too."

Janice slugged down in her seat. "They've been looking for us ever since we.. I wished we didn't leave that night. If we haven't we wouldn't be here. Maybe the three of us would've grabbed coffee and complain about our parents not letting us do stuff," Janice says and I slightly chuckled.

"Yeah. Right in front of the window having coffee. It's not safe for us to be out here like this. Someone can notice us. Bringing unwanted attention to us is dangerous." I say.  Janice sighs and relaxes her muscles. She knew I was right. She took her sunglasses quickly putting it on, but not before I saw a lonely tear dragging it self down her slim face.

"Let's head back to get scolded."

I couldn't help but laugh at that statement. Janice chuckled too. This was one of the many reasons why Janice was my best friend. The car ride was silent off and on. Janice wasn't concern about what would happen when we got back to the house. However I was. Think Janice was a little  overconfident. Finally we pulled up to the house and I somewhat expecting they would be standing there. No one was out there. "Ready?"
"Yup."
We enter inside the house seeing Luther standing there arms crossed with an unreadable emotion.

"Luther! You're up early." Janice smiles batting her lashes. Luther raised an eyebrow at her little tactic.

"Where have you been?" He looked at her suspicious. Again Janice bats her lashes at him and widen her eyes more.  I stood there thinking there is no way he was gonna fall for that. No way.
