Chapter 21: Turmoil

Rene POV

Luther blinks before he starts laughing earning a glare from Janice. She then growled lowly which stopped his laughter. Her words shook me to the core. She was serious and petrified about it.

"Your serious," Luther asked.

"Yes dammit. Somehow I knew what it was. The stench of rotting, death, and fire. The people there impaled by spears while being burned alive begging for death."

"Hell." I say and Janice and Luther looked at me. It seems to me there's a connection.

"How did you get out?" I question. Janice shook her head saying she doesn't know. This was just beyond creepy.

"It's real. It's real and I'm doomed." she cried out. Luther looked lost about it. Janice looked backed at me saying,

"What am I going to do? I'm not an evil person. If anything it should be Dana."

I heard the hatred she had for Dana, I can imagine if she was right here, Janice would hurt her.

"I don't know Jan, I know your not evil. We'll find something." I assured her. She sighs and dropped her head in her hands.

"You should get some rest Janice, I promise you'll feel better. "Luther advised. She nods getting up, but stopped in her tracks to turn around and looked at me saying, "Remember that note Rene? It's true what I said. That thing is real. Stay safe."

As Luther left, leaving me in the quiet room, my mind raced with everything Janice had revealed. The note from Makenna, the ominous warning—it all seemed to converge into a chilling realization. I needed to make sense of it all, but exhaustion weighed heavily on me.

I can hear Luther footsteps and I stood there thinking about all of this. "You should get some sleep too." He comment. I suppose he is right though. I nod and followed him to the bedroom. He turns to me saying, "If you need anything Rene, yell out my name."

"Goodnight." He said.

Morning

I woke up to find Janice sitting by the fish tank. She greeted me with a "good morning," and when I asked how she was feeling, she admitted she was hungry. Luther entered the room with a smile, announcing that food was on the way, which surprised me until he reminded me of his enhanced vampire senses.

As we waited for breakfast, Janice and Luther engaged in conversation, while I listened attentively. Luther eventually excused himself, prompting Janice to remark on how great he was. This piqued my curiosity, and I raised an eyebrow in question.

I guess Luther wasn't that bad. "Guess he's fine despite he tried to eat me." I said. Janice head turn fast looking at me.

"He did? Can't believe him." She say looking upset. Luther came back with a tray in his hand still wearing a smile on his face.

"Ok food for Rene, blood for Janice, and blood and rare steak for me." He said cheerily. Soon as Luther sat down, Janice punched his shoulder. He looked at her appalled.

"What was that for?" he frowned. "That was for trying to eat my friend." Luther glared at me hard, but I couldn't help myself laughing. He started to apologize to her and Janice rolled her eyes.

"Thanks a lot Rene. If you hate me that much why don't you tell Aries and Tristan too." he glowers.

"Calm down Luther, I'm not going to tell. I don't hate you, I like you sometimes." He looked relived and started to eat. I picked up my toaster strudel and took a bite and I caught Janice staring at me with a pout. She must of wanted some. I tore it in half and gave it to her, but Luther butted in.
