Chapter 7: Saved

Rene POV

I stood there shaking, not knowing what to do. Aries! I called again in my mind.

Little one? Thank goodness he answered.

Tristan is pissed at me, and I'm in some smelly basement- My scared rambling was cut off when Aries responded, I'm on my way. Tristan, that slime ball, and then silence.

"Scared slave?" Tristan grinned.

I nodded, my body trembling. He dragged me to a wall with dangling chains and cuffed my hands in. He walked to a table and grabbed what looked like a whip. Turning back to me, he walked closer, a menacing glint in his eyes.

"I want to hear that scream of yours coming from your perfect mouth."

Why did he have to prolong this? It was like in any book or movie where the bad guy always had to talk crap.

"Because it's so fun," he laughed, making me realize he had read my thoughts just like Aries could.

No, it had to be a trick, a mind game. He threw the whip down and stared at my neck. Not this again.

"Please, master, I'm still recovering from the last bite. My wound is not completely healed." I hoped he would show some compassion, even if it was five percent, somewhere in his dark heart.

It was starting to get under my skin. I turned my head, looking away, but Tristan didn't like that. His hand grabbed my chin, jerking it back to face him. His grip was firm, and his eyes were cold and unfeeling.

"You think you can ignore me?" he sneered. "You belong to me, and you will obey."

I felt a surge of defiance, but I knew better than to let it show. Instead, I tried to calm my racing heart and think of Aries. Please hurry, I thought desperately, hoping he could somehow sense my need for him.

"Look at me when I'm speaking to you. Rude, pathetic slave." I didn't want to look at him, but I didn't want to anger him anymore. His eyes weren't black, but gold with a tinge of red—something I had never seen before. "Now, if you want to scream, go ahead, because nobody will hear you. This baby is soundproof. I do very much enjoy the screams though. So, fulfilling," Tristan said with a cruel smile.

I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction. Without warning, he bit into my neck, but on the right side, not where my other wound was. I held in my scream and took the pain. He noticed that I didn't scream, so he bit harder. The pain was no doubt kicking in two hundred times fold, but I refused to give in. He withdrew from my neck, blood staining his lips.

"No screams, my pretty? Don't worry, slave, I'll bet you I can make you." This time he bit me way harder, like he was chewing or something. The pain was indescribable, and tears fell from my eyes. I started to whimper, trying to hold it in, but it was a losing battle. So, I screamed.

My body began to grow weaker and weaker. I was fading fast. This could be it.

Aries, please hurry, I thought desperately.

"Is she going to be, okay?"

"Yes, but she lost a lot of blood and has bruises on her neck and waist."

"If I hadn't left..."

"Don't blame yourself. It's his fault..."

I could hear voices talking, but I couldn't pinpoint who they belonged to. I tried to open my eyes, but the lights were too bright.

"Rene! You're awake?" That was definitely Aries' voice.

"I'm awake?" I asked confusedly. I opened my eyes to see a worn-out and worried Aries, along with a nurse and the maid.

"Was I unconscious?"

The nurse came up to me, smiling sadly. "Yes, Rene. You lost a lot of blood and were unconscious for four days. We're glad you're awake," she spoke gently.

Oh no, the memories were starting to come back. Tristan—that ass—almost killed me.

"Rene, I'm so sorry I wasn't there soon enough. If I wouldn't have left the damn house, none of this would have happened," Aries angrily spoke.

"It's not your fault, Aries. Please don't blame yourself. I'm thankful you got to me in time before he could have killed me," I said, feeling sad that he thought it was his fault.

"I'll be back to check on you, Rene, okay?" Sherry said, and I nodded as she left along with the maid, leaving Aries and me alone. I looked at Aries, and he looked back at me. He looked worn down, and his face had started to sink in a little.

"I hadn't left your side, Rene. These past four days, I was worried sick. I couldn't sleep or eat, too busy thinking about that bastard and you in your semi-coma state. I never should have left the house. I'm so stupid. Tristan gave me some fake order just to get me out of the way so he could do whatever he pleased." The more he mentioned Tristan, the more his hands started to crack from the tension he held them in. I was nervous to interrupt him.

"I'm not like my brother, little one. Never have been, never will be. You don't have to be afraid of me or be nervous. I'm not going to hurt you." This information made me feel better, if only a bit. Wait... brothers? He did mention that before.

"Yeah, we're brothers. Crazy, huh?"

"No, I just never noticed, really, but now that I think about it, you do look like you're related to him," I said. His back tensed, then he released a sigh.

"Get some rest, Rene," he said, and then he was gone. He was right. My neck started to ache again, badly. It was like as soon as he left, the pain came back.

When I woke up, daylight was hitting my face. I stretched my limbs. Boy, I felt so much better than yesterday. My body was still sore, but the pain wasn't as intense.

"Ah, Rene, you're awake. How are you feeling?" Sherry asked.

"I feel great," I said. Sherry took out my IV and then checked my blood pressure.

"Well, your vitals seem fine. Thanks to Aries giving you some of his blood to heal, but still though..." she trailed off, lost in thought.

"Aries healed me?" I asked.

"Yes, his blood helped you recover significantly. But remember, you're still human, and the healing process could have been complicated. You should still be resting. However, what's important is that you're fine now," Sherry said. The door opened, revealing Aries standing there with a bouquet of flowers.

"These are for you," he said, stepping forward. I accepted them with a smile.

"Thank you. They're beautiful," I said. He smiled and hugged me.

"Will you stay in my room and keep me company?" he asked.

I giggled. "Sure, Aries. After all, you do have a very comfortable bed."

We left the nurse's office and walked to his bedroom. Although a thought lingered in my mind, I decided it was best not to mention it. As soon as we entered the room, I jumped onto his bed like a child. I could hear Aries chuckling. I began to close my eyes, sinking into the softness of his king-sized bed.
