**Author's Note**
Because Wattpad only allows 200 parts per story (and this story has a long way left to go) I'll be condensing a bunch of the chapters. Brand new chapters will normally be uploaded in individual parts, but when I have a backlog of writing to upload, or after I finish a chapter, I'll combine them into one part.
Thank you so much for reading (especially for making it this far!) and I hope you continue to enjoy the story.
Cheers

"You're up early."
Kell turned to find Nul crawling out of bed.
"I slept enough the last couple of days."
"How do you feel?"
"How do you think? Like shit. Everything hurts and I lost."
"Will you be okay?"
Kell sighed. She felt like she'd lost more than just the fight. Her etchings had been slashed, rendering them useless. Shaking her head, she said, "I'll be fine, I just want to go home."
"I think that's how we all feel. When do you want to leave?"
"Roran already left with Zan. He'll get back tonight and we can head to the library then."
"I should head out then. I'll prepare the library to house us until Orlas comes."
"Be careful on your way out, Demetrio is already sniffing around. We don't want anyone to follow you to our new safehouse."
"I'll be careful."
Nul pulled off their coat and laid it out on the ground. They produced a blood pen and jabbed the inside of their cheek.
Kell winced. "Don't you have ink or something?"
"Blood is one of the most effective mediums. Only rare and expensive inks will work as well and we don't have those."
"Fair..."
Nul drew a series of patterns and designs on their coat. Then, tapping a finger to the new design, the coat began to shimmer and ripple like heat roiling up from the city on a hot day. Nul picked the coat up and shook it out. The exterior had gone from dark gray to reflective white.
"This should help me stay out of sight."
Kell grinned and swatted them on the shoulder. "You can never resist showing off. Get out of here. I'll see you tonight."
Nul squeezed Kell's good shoulder and headed to the window. Upon opening it a sharp gust of wind rushed in, making Kell shudder. Nul slipped out the window, falling three stories to land without a sound. Kell watched them make their way across the yard and out into the tundra. Their coat blended in with snow and Kell quickly lost sight of them.
"Did Nul leave?"
Karyn was sitting up in bed, rubbing her eyes.
"Just now. Roran left a little bit ago. Once he gets back we're going to join Nul in the library, then we'll finally head home."
Karyn came over and gently wrapped her arms around Kell, her body still heavy with sleep.
"You should rest until tonight. You're injured and it's a long walk."
"I'll just make Roran carry me. If you don't wake up he may need to carry you too."
Karyn stifled a yawn. "I'm awake."
