It's been three weeks. Three weeks since the incedent at the park happened and three weeks since Risa had heard anything from Maeve. The latter didn't even bother texting Risa good night that evening. But then again, Risa believed that the girl was probably tired.
After what happened, Risa still asked Maeve to hang out at some occasion which the latter only replied with either she's busy or she can't 'cause she's hanging out with her boyfriend.
The prelim just ended and Risa wanted to have some fun after so much studying so she texted Maeve another invite.
"Hey, prelims just ended. Wanna hang out together?"
Few minutes later, she received a reply which made her smile so wide and if she's not at school she would probably jump from happiness.
"Sure. I'll pick you up at school. I'll be there at 4pm"
Risa looked at her watch and see that it's still 3:00pm. She still has an hour and luckily she bring a spare clothes with her so she used that to change 'cause why not? She wants to at least look fresh. After she finished, she proceed at the gym to watch their school's basketball team play.
It was 4:30 when the game ended, which their school won with 64 points. And now the clock just hits 5:00 and still no Maeve in sight.
"Where is she?" Risa looked at her watch for the 3rd time while tapping her right foot. She's now beginning to worry about her best friend.
"Where are you?" she texted which was left unseen so she called. She was happy that the latter finally answered the call, but then who is she kidding? Her happy face turn into a frown and it feels like her world is about to crumble because who wouldn't? When the woman whom you fell in love with answered your call only to her the other line moaning her boyfriend's name.
Risa immediately drop the call. She know she's in no position to get mad, but still Maeve should have at least said something if she's still in for tonight. Nevertheless she still texted the girl
"I'll wait here at school. Text me if you can't come"
And yes, like a fool she was, she still waited though it's clear as the day that her best friend is busy with other man.
When the clock hit 6:00 pm, Risa decided to leave, but halt at her position when she saw Maeve's car.
"Get in" Maeve said after rolling down her car's window.
"Took you so long to get here. I thought it's bros before hoes" Risa absentmindedly say.
"Oh please, get over it! You're the one who texted you'll wait!" Maeve gritted her teeth, which is a new sight for Risa. She looks so annoyed by Risa's presence and oh how it hurt the latter.
Risa was about to say sorry and just cancel the plan, but for some reason she can't say it at all. She did missed her best friend's presence after all. It's been so long since they met each other.
The car was silent. No one even dared to speak a single word and Risa hates it, so she decided to break the ice between them.
"You look sexy and beautiful tonight. Where are we going?"
The two simple comments made Maeve blush and Risa want to tease her about it, but decide to not do it. She's afraid the girl might get annoyed again.
"Thanks" Maeve simply replied.
"And we're going to a party" she added which made Risa panic
"Wh-what!?" she didn't mean to, but she can't help but raised her voice.
"I said, we're going to a party. Are you deaf?"
"But, Eve you know I don't go to parties. Their full of people" Risa complained which annoyed the latter.
"Oh just shut up and get over it, okay!? You're an adult you should go to parties and live your life!" Risa is scared, that's a fact. She almost can't recognize her best friend.
Risa stayed silent and divert her eyes outside, enjoying the scenic view that they passes here and there.
"I'm sorry" Risa said, which the woman at the driver seat didn't even bother to reply.
Risa didn't even know why she said sorry. For all she know she just wants to remind her best friend that she's not into parties, yeah, it might have turn into complain, but the only person who know why Risa don't go to parties is Maeve and now the latter is the one who's bringing her there.
"Just get over it like she said. It's been a long time anyway. Traumas should be gone as time passes by, right?" she mumbled non stop in ber brain.
After a while, Maeve finally parked her car at the bar's parking area. Like a lost puppy, Risa followed Maeve not saying how she's so opposed with the idea. She wants to back out and say that she'll just go home, but she can't also just leave her best friend at the bar full of people and what if just like what happen to her back then would also happen to her best friend? She'd never forgive herself if that happens.
After scanning their ID's, they finally enter the bar and get some drinks which Risa refused.
"Oh come on, Risa! It's just a drink, not a poison"
"Easy for you to say 'cause you're not the one who got her drink spiked and got almost raped back then" is what Risa wants to say but decide to just give the latter a sad smile and drink the alcohol. She might need it.
Well, it should not be spiked, right? After all, Maeve is the one who gave her the drink.
"Hey, beauty! Didn't know you'd be here" A blonde said, approaching the two of them.
"Avery!!! It's so good to see you!" Maeve said and hug the blonde.
Risa just stand there awkwardly looking at the two friends who's probably catching up
"And who might this hottie be?" Avery asked, shifting her eyes towards Risa
For a second, Maeve wants to cuss at Risa for blushing so hard just because of simple comment and she also probably had already plan on how to kill her friend, Avery but she decided to let it go. She didn't fucking know why she feel that way
"Oh, it's my friend, Risa. Risa, meet my best friend, Avery" Maeve introduced the two of them and Risa didn't dwell much on how Maeve just introduced her as a friend. The latter always introduce her as the best friend, but it's not that it matter. Oh who is she kidding!? Of course it matters! Maeve always get mad when Risa introduce her as a friend and not a best friend but then again, that was before, things are different now.
"Let's go dance at the center. The other girls are there!" Avery said in a loud voice for the two to hear
"Really!? Oh my gosh it's been so long!"Maeve said and proceed on the center stage without even bothering to ask Risa if she wants to dance. Well, not that she wants to, but still.
"You wanna go and dance, hottie?" Avery asked, waiting patiently for Risa's answer
"No, thanks. I'm just gonna stay here."
