How To Write A Complex Story
A complex story usually has a deeper lore behind them. Whether it's a huge mystery or legend surrounding the main characters, you should be able to guide your readers on where the story is gonna take them.
1) What is the main plot?
2) Which characters should we be on the lookout for?3) Do these random events or characters have any relation to one another?
4) Is the important part of the story gonna be introduced at the beginning, middle or much later?
5) How many chapters does it take before we finally get to the good part? This book has got to be the longest novel I have ever worked on, but at the same time make sure each chapter is divided into bite-sized chunks.
A lot of writers make the mistake of cramming several characters and plot lines in a single thousand-word chapter. In this book, this is the formula I've made when writing a decent story:Intro of main characters or MC
+
Buildup of events
+
Aid from supporting characters as MC seeks real answers
+
THE BIG EVENT
+
Reflection & closureTo avoid any plot holes or continuation errors, I take time to review the things I've previously written and provide additional notes for my readers to follow.
Also, don't be afraid to include a few quiet moments in your story.
Even action-packed stories have moments when characters have to step back and show some vulnerability. It allows your readers time to breathe and process everything.
I decided to share this in hopes that people may learn the stuff I learned all these years. Just like artists, every author has their distinct style of storytelling. I would be glad if some folks find this helpful.
