A sharp pain shot through the back of my head. It felt like I was dropped on the ground. I tried adjusting my vision by squinting my eyes until I saw a red ceiling far above. Next thing I know is a wide dark rectangle and flashes of light brightened the whole area.
It looked like an area with many people watching me from their seats. They had these sullen looks on their faces. Then, I start coming back to my senses and ... OH NO! What happened to Omar? I also noticed the tracking bracelet around my arm is gone.
Instead, I found myself chained up to a metal chair and Omar was seated on the other next to me. His head remained down, not even a single response from him."I'm glad you're still alive, Milo Sidaris," it was Miss Odval. Her voice echoed through the microphone.
"DOWN WITH THE FELONS!" the crowds began shouting. I saw that all of them were consisted of students and other upper-class people.
"In this televised trial, we shall show the public what happens when you meddle in others' business. We can't let them tarnish the reputation of this academy," he declared.
The huge screen showed that she is joined by Jonathan, Vanessa, Rina and Kim at the announcement booth.
The students all wore crimson winter uniforms. I yelled at them to release us, that I don't wanna have anything to do with them anymore. Jun stomped towards me and shoved an apple into my mouth. "Man, your constant wailing is driving me nuts!" he growled.
I could barely make out the hulking, shadowy figure standing far behind him. It's exactly how Omar described it. It stood in the shadows away from everyone's sight.
Jun steps back five feet away and pulls out a long whip that's made out of a squid's appendages. He had that deranged look in his eyes. He could take us out in one breath! A fiery sensation slashed through our skin.
If only I could break out of this chair, I'd be able to make my move. Omar never budged despite the constant hits he kept receiving.
He was already bleeding from his head. After what felt like the tenth strike, he let out a chilling laugh and the cheering crowds quieted down."What's so funny?" Miss Odval questioned.
"I have always known it's gonna end up this way. Everybody here is out to get me and play the hero," Omar turned to me," Guess what? All I see beneath your high-class image is a desperate rotten soul!"
Everybody in the arena all gasped and shouted angrily at him. Just the sight of them provoked really excites him. "If you've got nothing to hide, you wouldn't be afraid if somebody talks about you! Since we're LIVE, the public can finally see what you've been up to!" he added.
"Ohoho-nonono! Everybody present here are only ones who can see this trial. We shall convince the public that all of this is just a simple misunderstanding! May this be another cautionary tale for the others," Miss Odval said in a sing-song manner before eyeing Jun to continue the torture.
