Your POV

I watched out of the bus window, the distant chatter of children hummed through my ears only adding more to my migraine.

B/f/n sat besides me on the leather seat, playing with the rings that were placed on my s/c fingers.

City soon turned to woods, the more we descended into wildlife the less people began to talk and were on the yellow bus.

I soon recognized the farm house that sat on the bottom of the hill, the green woods that surrounded it only added more of a shine to the field that was placed by the red barn.

"You wanna hang next Saturday? I don't have to work so I want to hangout with you, so you don't really have a choice." B/f/n's voice rang through my ears, making me come out of thought. "Yeah, sure." I smiled, grabbing my backpack from besides me and slid it on.

"Bye, N/n."

"Bye, B/f/n."

Stepping off of the bus, the warm summer breeze hit me like the excitement at a child's birthday party. I was free of all of that high school drama, no home work, this summer my plan was to make it all about creating a new me.

A smile spread on my face as I walked into the house, silence swept throughout the old house like a toxic fume, taking away the joy in my heart.

"Ma? Grandma?...Callie?" I called out, placing my bookbag on the coat hanger by the door and slid off my boots/shoes. I wasn't expecting a response, grandma worked her ass off and mom...was mom.

Callie couldn't respond of course, she was a cat.

"Meow?" I heard a purring peep besides me, glancing down I spotted the white cat already by my feet. "Oh hey baby!" I gasped, speaking to her like every human does whenever they see something thats not human and is cute.

I felt something wet on her furr, making me recoil my hand to my chest. I looked down on the finger tip, a red liquid replaced the s/c flesh.

Squatting down I quickly checked her for any scratches, but none.

"Meow."

She wiped her tail across my face, and began to walk away in a manner of "follow me." My gut dropped, did she bring a dead bird in the house again?

I silently followed behind the cat up the wooden stairs, hoping I wouldn't find anything that was dead or bleeding out on my bed again.

*CREAK*

I pushed open my bedroom door, the light from the sun peered into my room, hitting me with a slap of warmth.

My bed was in it's usual place, desk by its side with a few pill bottles ready to be refilled scattered the top while my sketchbook kept they're empty selves company. My dresser was placed against the wall, some clothes hung out of it.

My legs took me to my bed, sitting down with a tired sigh as I watched Callie pounce up to the window sill and took in the warm heat of the sun.
She was a very mysterious cat, my grandmother found her in the near by woods.

Something that was very unique of her, was that her eyes were the red of a white mouse.

She looked over at me with a straight face, she was probably expecting snacks. "Not right now." I yawned, placing my hands behind my body to hold myself up.

*CRINKLE*

I lifted my hand up from the hard object, turning around it was a sticky note stuck onto a old DS.
My heart began to pound, was auntie (aunt's name.) Playing one of her dumbass jokes on me again?

My eyes flashed over the paper, the game felt heavy in my hands.

The paper wrote: More free time for yourself, more time for us to get to know each other :)

A unexpected chill shot down my spine, this wasn't auntie's hand writing. Hers was neat, this one was of a freshman drop out.

"Did you all of a sudden learn to write?" I chuckled at Callie, trying to settle my anxiety as I watched her eyes flash around the nature that played outside of the window, inside of the tree.

"Hm, how about we get out for awhile?"

I walked over to the window sill and opened it, letting Callie walk out onto the roof. Looking behind myself I tossed the DS onto my bed, feeling more comfortable with being away from it.

I crawled out onto the roof, steady enough so I didn't end up falling off.

(More like pushed off 🙂 okay anyways.)

I slowly leaned up against the wood that was placed besides my window, Callie came over and sat on my lap as we were protected from the sun thanks to the old oak tree that grew a little too close to the house.

Her eyes layed out on the tree line that was on the right side of the corn field, her body still.

Squinting my eyes I couldn't see anything, only a yellow object in the tree line which was just a piece of misplaced corn. Atleast that's what my head told me, I could even say it looked like a person but that would only spook myself.

"Don't mind it Cal, it's nothing."  I muttered, stroking her head as I took in the silence of our world.

Being in "dangerous" places always seemed to calm me, little did I know that my little comforting mind set would only fuck me over some time later in the future.

And unlucky me, that future was now.
