CHAPTER 9

When scarlet entered the hall where the gala was taking place she couldn't help but admire the view a little, since it was being held in the same hotel where they lodged she didn't have trouble locating the place, the hall was already filled with people and the performers were already playing their piece.

A waiter with a tray of wine in his palm came by to offer her a drink which she took, you didn't need anyone to tell you that indeed everyone gathered her was rich and powerful, she scanned the room for a while in search of a certain someone but he was no where in sight which made her relax a little, since their encounter in her room she has dreaded seeing him again.

"I'll be by your side tonight just in case you need anything" Michele said to her.

Scarlet almost rolled her eyes at the girl but gave her a weird smile instead, she had totally forgotten that Michelle was with her, she wasn't used to someone following her or being around her all the time even Zoe knew when to give her space but with Michelle there was really little she could do to evade her, the girl was dedicated to her job.

"You look ravishing Tonight scarlet Amelia Finn" Zack said beside scarlets startling her a little.

"Zack" scarlet said.

"Did I startle you?" Zack asked with a smirk on his face.

"You wish" scarlet said.

"Anyways you really look wonderful and that diamond necklace on your neck definitely stands out, you should be careful so Alexa doesn't see that" Zack said with the annoying smirk plastered on his face and an I know it all attitude.

"And why's that?" Scarlet asked with her brows frowned, anything about alexa didn't sit well with her.

"Roman gave you that necklace it means it's important so make sure alexa doesn't find out he did" Zack said.

"What's the deal with Alexa, it's beginning to piss me off" scarlet said as the frown on her face deepened.

"Now is not the place and time for that, have you seen Roman?" Zack said changing the topic.

"I'll get my answer sooner or later though" scarlet said and placed the glass of wine on the tray of the waiter that passed by.

"Speaking of the devil" Zack said and nodded at the entrance.

Slowly scarlets gaze shifted to the entrance and lo and behold Roman stood at the door with a beautiful woman besides him but that wasn't the problem the problem was the woman he was with had the same necklace she had on and the same dress but in a different colour, scarlets dress was red while the lady's was royal blue.

"Looks like you have a rival" Zack whispered in her ear.

Scarlets stood there confused with many emotions flowing through her, emotions she couldn't understand, she couldn't tell if she was angry or jealous or offended at the same time.

She picked up another glass of wine from a waiter and gulped it all then retuned the glass, Roman had to be the most annoying human being she has ever met, everyone's attention was on him and the lady beside him that had her arms intertwined with his, but even tho she was angry at him she couldn't deny the fact that indeed Roman was a very handsome man, his dark hair was styled to the back and the black tuxedo he had on emphasised the fact that he was physically fit, he was indeed attractive but she had to remember he was her boss and he was an enemy as well.

Roman and the lady went around greeting the guests, while scarlet stood there with so many questions playing in her head, but why he picked the same outfit and accessories for her and his lover was the most prominent one.

"Ladies and Gentlemen I welcome you once again to la potencia the gathering of the powerful, we all know that this is the time of the year where we bid for this year's potencia and I know that's why most of us are here, but the time isn't ripe yet, in thirty minutes we gather again to bid for the potencia of this year, thank you" the host said then left the stage.

Everyone knows what happens at la potencia during the gala the greatest treasures on earth are being auctioned off  it was one of the ways the blacks made their money because apart from being the keepers of the world greatest treasure potencia  which was a necklace that was worn centuries ago by the greatest ruler of the world, the blacks were also collectors of precious treasures on earth and they auction them off at the gala.

"I wonder what this years treasure would be, am actually hoping to buy something" Zack said to her.

The fact that he has been keeping her company this evening was something she found offensive, why? Because all he does is put her in more suspense and at this point it was getting on her nerves, he was good looking for sure but the things that come out of his mouth would make you want to throw him in the middle of the ocean.

"Scarlet Amelia Finn?" Someone called behind her.

"Yeah" scarlet answered and turned to face the person.

"Hi my name is Charlotte" the lady said to her.

"Hi" scarlet said and shook hands with her.

"I was Romans former lawyer, I handed over to you" Charlotte said with a smile on her face which scarlet found welcoming.

"Nice to meet you Charlotte" scarlet said.

"Now the time that we have all been waiting for is finally here, but this years gala auction will be different, tonight we will be auctioning off the favourite dress and accessories of the greatest queen that the world has ever known, Queen Amelia, as we all know every inch of her clothings were made from the purest silk and every accessory she wore was made from the purest diamonds, but the icing on the cake is this clothe and accessory is being worn by a beautiful lady ring now, whoever wins the auction gets to spend three days with her" the host said interrupting scarlet and Charlotte conversation.

Everyone's attention was now on the host, queen Amelia was a very powerful queen centuries ago, she was the creator of the finest silk in the world history had it that she also wore the purest diamond the world has ever seen, it wasn't a surprise that the blacks were able to lay their hands on something as precious as that, or though scarlet didn't like the idea of adding a woman to the auction she had applaud that smart move, now many would bid so high just to spend three days with whoever this lady was.

"Now the start off price is going for five hundred million dollars, ladies and gentlemen I now present to you queen Amelia's ruby robe, please put the lights on it" the host said.

Scarlet couldn't believe what happened next, she was frozen on the spot, for the first time in her life she was lost, for the first time in her life she wanted to lash out but couldn't, how could she when she stood in the middle of a hall filled with people with the lights on HER.

She was being auctioned and this was all Roman's doing and the smirk on his face said it all.
