Chapter 46

"Stop," Scarlet said as she pulled away from the kiss before things got out of hand.

"I'm sorry, but I want this with you, Scarlet," Xavier said, slowly releasing his hold on her.

"Stop this madness. Your brother and I have a child together, and I don't want any unnecessary entanglements. Please, let's not pursue this any further," Scarlet said as she took a few steps backwards away from him.

" You can't deny what we have," Xavier said.

"I don't need to deny anything because there's nothing there to deny," Scarlet replied.

"The chopper is here," Catarina said interrupting them.

"C'mon, Sofia, let's go," Scarlet said to her daughter, taking her hands and making her way out of the house.

"Way to go, Xavier," Catarina said to Xavier, after Scarlet left the house.

During the chopper ride, everyone was quiet and lost in their thoughts. Sofia slept peacefully in her mother's arms, while Scarlet was preoccupied with figuring out how to protect Sofia now that they had left the island. Scarlet knew that returning to her house was risky, but it was something she had to do. She believed that the attention on her house would have reduced to a manageable extent by now. She needed to retrieve her files and some other things she had prepared for times like this.

""I'm sorry," Xavier said, breaking the silence.

"You don't need to be... it's nothing," Scarlet replied.

"I'll give you all the time you need. Right now, I understand that there are things you need to handle and you may not have space for me in your heart. But Scarlet, I am willing to wait no matter how long it takes," Xavier said.

"That would be a foolish thing to do. Don't wait for me because I'll never have space for you in my heart," Scarlet said. Am sorry" Xavier said breaking the silence.

"I'll still wait... I'll wait for you, Scarlett," Xavier said.

"Whatever," Scarlett replied, returning to stroking her daughter's hair.

After what felt like several hours, they finally landed on the rooftop of Crescent Hospital. Scarlett let out a breath and tapped Sofia, who was still fast asleep.

"Hey baby, we're here," Scarlett said.

"Really, mummy?" Sofia rubbed her eyes.

"Yes, baby. Come on, let's go home," Scarlet said as she picked up Sofia and they both exited the helicopter.

When Scarlet got down with Sofia on her shoulder, still asleep, Xavier asked, "Can I take her?"

Scarlet hesitantly handed Sofia over to Xavier, and they made their way down with bodyguards and security personnel waiting for them when they landed. Xavier led them to his office where Sofia was placed on the sofa. Then, he offered Scarlet a drink.
