Chapter 15

"Took you long enough," Roman said as Scarlet walked into the room.

"i-i was just thinking of how to put everything am about to say to you, you know I don't want to come off rude but we need to talk," Scarlet said

"On the contrary, I need to talk, and you... Scarlet needs to listen, without wasting much time I called you here to inform you that you will be going to zacks family island with him in thirty minutes and I need you to be on your best behaviour, he owns you for three days since he bought you off at the auction and I need you to make it worth his money, on the evening of the third day Alexa will come to pick you up, don't mess this up with your sharp tongue or uncontrollable impulse, this is important to me, Michelle has already packed your things and would escort you to the airport, any question?" Roman said sternly.

Scarlet was speechless the audacity of this man was unfathomable even for her, every word that came out of his mouth was not only upsetting but insensitive, he was instructing her like she was a child or a commodity he sold, the fact that he even felt the need to call her up here just to tell her to be of good behaviour was derogatory, and this was the last straw for her.

"Roman, how dare you insult me this way? how dare you talk to me in this manner? with all due respect, I am your lawyer, the best in this country, I worked hard to get to where I am now and even if you don't acknowledge that do not disrespect me! how dare you trample on my worth and value as your lawyer? first off you set me up at the auction and now you want to ship me off like a property you sold? how dare you!?" Scarlet yelled angrily at him.

"any question?"Roman said with his brows knitted together in a frown and his arms crossed on his chest.

"you know I see what you are doing, you want me to quit right? but too bad Roman you really underestimate me, I don't break easily and I will prove that. ill make sure you give me the respect and regard that I deserve, am not the best of the best for nothing and you need to know that, see you in three days" Scarlet said and left his room.

As she walked to the elevator her blood boiled with anger, Roman was a thorn in her flesh in many ways, for someone who was this successful and arrogant she would bet a million dollars that he had a long list of enemies and he couldn't care less if he added her to the list, how could one man be so rude, arrogant and full of himself? he was trying to make her quit for sure but over her dead body will she give him the satisfaction of seeing her quit, she wasn't a weak damsel in distress that would run away from a problem, that has never been her style and Roman was in for a long thing if he thinks he could frustrate her out of her job.

Scarlet pressed the elevator button and it opened up, she stepped into it and then pressed her room's floor number, the thought of spending three whole days on an island with a man she couldn't stand and his family was bothersome, how was she going to cope? All this wasn't what she signed up for? The reason why she worked so hard all these years of her life was not to go on impromptu vacations on an island, And this was all because of a certain someone, the fact that she couldn't even go a day without Roman being an issue in her life was frustrating.

the elevator door pulled open on her floor and she stepped out and made her way down the aisle to her room, But as she got to her room's door someone pulled it open and came out of it startling Scarlet.

"What were you doing in my room?" Scarlet asked the lady she saw who looked familiar but she couldn't place it.

"I-I-I- was just helping to arrange your things" The lady was startled as she too was frightened when she saw Scarlet.

"I don't believe that shit who sent you? And what did you do in my room?" Scarlet said and grabbed her by the collar.

"No-no-nothing I swear on my life," the lady said stuttering and trembling.

"That's a lie you better tell me what you were doing else I'll call the authorities and I'll make sure you rot in jail!"Scarlet said and tightened her grip on the lady's collar.

"I swear please let me go" the lady said and tried to wiggle out of scarlets grip but it was futile as Scarlet pushed her to the wall pinning her.

"Now I remember where I've seen you before, at la potencia you approached me and told me you were Roman's former lawyer, I knew you looked familiar when I saw you but I couldn't place it, Now tell me what you were doing in my room without my consent else I swear I'll claw your eyes out! So start talking! what were you doing in my room?!" Scarlet said angrily this time.

"Ok-ok-ok please let go of me I swear I'll tell you please, "the lady said.

"You better start talking else I'll strangle you to death" Scarlet said.

"I-I-I- just brought the roses Zack ordered for you," the lady said.

"Ordered? I don't understand, you have to speak young woman" Scarlet said.

"I-I- am-am........"

As the lady was talking Scarlet felt a big hit on her head that made her eyes spin and made her lose balance, she turned to see who hit her but her vision was blurry and before she knew it she was on the floor and in utter darkness claimed her.

"What just happened?"

Were her thoughts as she sipped into the darkness.
