"I have b-blood cancer" his voice cracked and wavered like a dam would burst if he raised his voice any higher "45...45 days, that's all I have left" silence, that's all that came from the other side, Felix's eyes were squinted hard and his heart was thumping against his chest threatening to fall out any second. what would he say? what would he do? how would he react like? a spiral of questions pulled Felix into a labyrinth and he felt like throwing up

should he have lied? should he have stayed silent? terror began to knock at the gates of his senses, and when he finally gathered enough courage to look up. his eyes have already begun to fill with tears of fear and sheer anxiety, he saw the fright and dubiety in Hyunjin's eyes and it only worsened whatever storm was going on inside him

he wanted to call out the other's name but he felt far too shameful to condone such activities, so he remained silent. it's not like his voice would support him in this masquerade of bravery, he had lied but not really, it felt as if his heart was on a string floating in the air, one end was attached to the middle of his heart and the other end was in Hyunjin's hand. one tug and it'll be pulled right out of his ribcage

nausea rose up in his throat like a floating dead body in the ocean, "H-" before his words could be given life the boy stood from the bed, eyes wide enough to show the tears of fear that brimmed in them "no" was all he uttered out before he began to walk away, his face still in front of Felix's eyes, his brows knitted together as he let out a shuddering breath, it was obvious he was holding back something

something he'd die than show, something he'd give his everything to hide, this side of him was what no eyes have ever come in contact with. not even this specific stranger that has seemed to have watched all of Hyunjin, the stranger who held Hyunjin's heart in his shivering hands like it was made of glass, and it was.

as fragile as glass, and to have been given the honor of grazing something as elusive as Hyunjin's heart was no less than winning a noble prize. and imagine the irony of winning something so darn precious and not being aware of it

Felix wanted to speak, say something, call out his name and stop him in his tracks but nothing left his mouth, instead, a teardrop rolled down his freckled cheek and his voice echoed in the midst of his throat, only a single breath escaped his lips instead of Hyunjin's name

his eyes watched the boy lose his senses, mumbling incoherent words before he turned around to exit the door. and that's when Felix broke, the lock on his patience snapped just like his heart as if a supple twig beneath a heavy shoe

His hand reached to clasp around his mouth, muffling his sobs. The sounds of his aching crying echoed in the white walls of this hospital room, bouncing off from one wall to another, from the ceiling to the ground clashing right upon Felix

____

The swaying of the trees and rustling of its branches whispered in Hyunjin's ears, while he stood at the rooftop of said hospital and gazed out into the city, his mind was empty. His eyes focused as he traveled them across every flickering light he could spot in the ocean of glimmering lights

It was peaceful, but not when there was a war going on inside Hyunjin. '45 days? That's all Felix has left to live, what does that even mean? Will he just die after that? Or will the heavens have mercy on him and spare him a day or two?'

He didn't even know what to think, 'how could someone who has merely two months left to live roam around so normally and casually, as if their life is not on a thread, as if there isn't a ticking bomb above their head'
