Y/n's POV
The Next Day

I rolled over, still half asleep.

Something then touched my head.

My eyes fluttered open. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust in the darkness of the room.

Laying next to me, fully clothed, was Zuko, gently stroking my hair.

"Good morning." He smiled softly.

"Why are you dressed so early?" I mumbled, holding his hand to my head.

"Y/n, it's mid-day." He chuckled.

"What?" I asked, sitting up.

"Everyone's getting packed to leave."

"Why didn't you wake me up sooner?" I asked, jumping out of the bed and searching for my clothes.

"You looked like you were sleeping well." He said, standing up.

I threw on my clothes and opened the curtains.

He was right; it was already mid-day.

"I can't believe how dark it was in here with the curtains closed." I mumbled, then paused.

My hand went to my neck to make sure the object was still there.
I sighed with relief as my finger traced over the necklace.

Zuko's arms wrapped around my waist. I tilted my head to look at him.

"Were you scared it'd be gone?" He asked, looking at the necklace.

I shook my head.

"I was scared it was a dream." I said softly.

He smiled, kissing my forehead.

"Let's go. The others are nearly done packing." He said, taking my hand in his.

I smiled, nodding my head.

I followed him outside to join the others.

"Okay, that's everything." Sokka said.

"Wait." Toph said. "Where's Aang?"

"He isn't back yet?" I asked, glancing around.

"I haven't seen him since last night." Katara said.

"Let's split up and look for him." Sokka said, hopping off of Appa.

I stomped on the ground, closing my eyes and concentrating.

"I got nothing." I sighed. "Toph?"

She shook her head.

I went into the house with the others.

"Aang?" Katara shouted.

"Come on out, Lazy Bones!" Toph yelled.

"Guys." Sokka said, holding something. "He left his staff."

"Maybe we should check by the beach." I said.

"Don't you think you've helped enough?" Katara asked sarcastically.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked bitterly.

"You know exactly what it means." She replied. "You're the reason he's gone to begin with!"

"You can't pin this all on me. We all know that everyone's in danger if Aang doesn't do something!" I argued.

"Guys, stop it." Sokka said, standing between us. "We have to find Aang."

"I was trying to, until someone-" I began.

"Y/n." Zuko said, grabbing my hand.

"But-!"

He shook his head.

My eye twitched.

"Fine!" I snapped, hopping over the railing of the porch. "I'll search wherever Katara isn't." I started walking towards the trees.

"Y/n, wait." Zuko called out to me.

Gritting my teeth, I began sprinting into the forest.

Stupid Katara. Stupid Aang. Why'd he have to run off, anyway?!

"So stupid!" I shouted, punching a tree.

I sighed, then began looking around.

I'm alone. I thought, when an idea came into my head.

"I'm connected to the past Avatars." I said to the tree I had punched. "Aang is the Avatar before me. I'm connected to him!"

I stopped, staring at the tree.

"Why am I talking to a tree instead of meditating?" I mumbled, sitting down cross-legged.

"..."

"......"

"....Y/n.." A voice said.

I looked up.

"Oh..." I said, lightly sighing. "Avatar Roku, it's you."

"Disappointed to see me?" The old man asked, a small smile on his face.

"I'm looking for Aang." I told him. "He ran off last night, and no one can find him. I was hoping I could connect with him like I can you, but it doesn't look like I can."

"Aang..." The man said quietly, then looked at me. "Y/n, it is you who must face the Firelord."

I frowned.

"But what about Aang?" I asked.

"It is your destiny, Y/n." He said. His figure began to fade. "It is the reason you are here. You must defeat the Firelord."

Now, Avatar Roku was gone.

"Well..." I sighed, laying on the ground. "That's not the answer I was looking for."
