Y/n's POV

We had finally lost the "soldiers" who were chasing us.

"Y/n, what was that back there?" Zuko asked me.

"A trick I taught myself." I smiled.

After covering about another mile we stopped, just to be sure we weren't followed.
I hopped off the creature, carrying the food and water to under a tree while Zuko tied up the ostrich horse.
He gave it a bag of feed and some water.

After, he came and sat by me.

"It's a little cold." I said, handing him the food. "I'm sorry."

"Here, I can fix that." He smiled softly.

Taking my food, he heated it up with his hands. I smiled, leaning myself onto his arm and putting my head on his shoulder.
I wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Y/n?" He questioned, looking at me.

He put the  food on the ground next to him to focus his attention on me.

"Zuko, I...have a question." I said quietly.

"What is it?" He asked me.

I looked at the ground.

"I've been thinking a lot about...what happened in the North Pole..." I looked up at him. "Since then, we keep having small interactions, like hugging or cuddling." I clenched my fist slightly. "Are we...just friends?"

"..." He stayed quiet. "I'm not sure." He finally said. My heart sank.

That's not what I was hoping to hear...

I took my arms off of him and scooted away.

"Let's eat!" I faked a smile, reaching for my food.

After we finished, we got back onto the animal, Zuko in front.

~~~~~~~~~~
We were back to tracking the Avatar. Evidently, so was Azula.
~~~~~~~~~~

"Do you really want to fight me?" A girls voice asked.

Zuko jumped off the ostrich horse while it was running.

"Yes. I really do." He said.

I was hiding behind the crumbling buildings.

"Zuko!" The Avatar said, shocked.

"I was wondering when you'd show up, Zuzu." Azula said, mocking him.

The Avatar laughed.

"Zuzu?" He repeated.

"Back off, Azula. He's mine." Zuko said, getting in a fighting stance.

So the Avatar can be yours, but I can't? I frowned.

"I'm not going anywhere." Azula said, copying his stance.

Azula shot fire at Zuko, knocking him into a pole. It broke.

I stayed where I was, salty.
Hmph. Who cares about him. I looked away, pouting, then bit my lip.

"Zuko, are you okay?" I asked anyway.

"I'm fine." He growled, standing up.

I frowned.
What answer was I expecting? "I'm better than okay, baby." I rolled my eyes as he shot fire at Azula.

I stared at him as he fought.
He's so handsome. I thought, sighing.

He went to follow them into a crumbling building. I stopped him with bloodbending before he fell off a ledge.
So majestic. I giggled.

He shoved Azula off the edge with his flames.

Azula knocked him down with fire.

"Zuko!" I shouted, running to his side. I looked up at the sound of additional footsteps. A smile spread onto my face. "Iroh!"

Zuko opened his eyes. "Uncle.." He mumbled.

"Get up." Iroh said. Iroh and I helped him up.

Everyone began backing Azula into a corner.

Katara and Ponytail boy had showed up, as well as a blind girl.

"Well, look at this. Enemies and traitors all working together." Azula frowned. "I'm done. I know when I'm beaten." She put her hands in the air. "You got me. A princess surrenders with honor."

No... I thought. She's playing into it too deep...
Something wasn't right.

She shot fire towards Iroh. My eyed widened.

I instinctively dove into the way of the fire.

"Ahh!" I cried out, tears in my eyes.

I felt myself hit the ground.

"Y/n!" Zuko shouted.

Everything turned black.

~~~~~~~~~~
"Y/n..." I heard a familiar voice say. I groaned in response.
"Ah..." I winced as I tried to move.
"Take it easy." The voice said.
I opened my eyes slowly.
"Zuko..." I whispered.
Everything flooded back into my head. I quickly sat up.
0Ah!" I winced٫ biting my lip. "Iroh...how is he?!" I asked, panicking. I looked around but my eyes couldn't find him.
"Relax. He's out getting leaves for tea." He said, putting an arm behind me to support me.
"He's not hurt?" I asked nervously. Zuko shook his head. I sighed with relief.
"Good." I said, pushing away his arm. "I can handle myself, thanks." I frowned at him, scooting backwards to lean against the wall.
He seemed hurt.
"Y/n..." He said, looking at me. I looked away. He sighed. "You were out for a few days." He looked down at the ground.
"What?" I asked him, confused.
He looked up at me.
He cupped my cheek, pulling my face towards his and pressing his lips into mine.
I pulled away.
"What is wrong with you?!" I said loudly.
"I just-" He began.
"Just what? Wanted to play with my feelings even more than you already have?" I frowned at him, then winced, grabbing my bandaged side. He went to help me, but I slapped his hand away.
"I'm going on a walk." I said through gritted teeth, trying to stand up.
"No٫ you're not." Zuko said, carefully forcing me back down.
I turned away, pouting.
"Here." He said.
I looked at him. He had put a bowl of fresh cold water beside me.
I glared at him, unwrapping my bandage.
He had taken off my shirt to bandage me.
If he had done it with ill intentions, he could've taken off my bra... I thought as I finished unwrapping the bandage.
I looked up at him; he was turned away from me, refusing to look at my mostly bare upper body.
I bended water from the bowl around my hand, placing it onto my burn.
"Nnn...ahh..." I groaned, feeling immediate relief.
As I healed myself, Zuko began talking.
"While you were unconscious, I trained with Uncle. I'm stronger now. I can protect you." He said.
The wound on my side was now mostly healed.
But not the one he caused on my heart.
"I don't need your protection." I bended the water back into the bowl, then looked at Zuko. "You can look now." I said.
He turned to look at me, then quickly turned away.
"Y/n, you're still shirtless." He said.
"So what? You've seen before." I mumbled grumpily, pulling on my shirt.
