Chapter 15

Sorry it took so long to update, but I'm back and should be updating more regularly!!

Marlow arrived at school the next day, she was kinda late so her friends were already inside. She walked in to see Will at his locker down the corridor. As Marley ran up to him she saw him look at a piece of paper that fell out of his locker. as Marley came closer she got sight of the paper. It was the news headline from a year ago, when Will was found. The headline read 'the boy that came back to life' with Will's face on the cover, although someone had marked over it in pen. over Will's eyes were large x's and the title now read 'zombie boy'. Will saw Marley coming and tried to hide the paper but before he could she grabbed it out of his hands and studied it.

"Asshole." Marley muttered.

"You don't think I'm weak do you?" Will mumbled looking down at the floor.

"No of course not!" She said tearing up the paper. All of a sudden the bell rang, signalling them all to get to class. Marlow and Will went together to science class, Marley sat down in the front row and waited for her friends to join you. Soon once everyone was in the class your teacher, Mr. Clarke, began the lesson.
Mr. Clarke placed a model of a brain down in front of them all, of course the only ones in the class listening were Marley and the boys.

"Meet the human brain. I know. I know. It doesn't look like much. A little gross even right? But consider this. There are a hundred billion cells inside of this miracle of evolution. All working as one. No. I did not misspeak. I did not stutter. A hundred billion." Mr Clarke was interrupted by the door opening, the principal walked in with a young redhead girl next to him.

"Ah this must be our next student!" Mr. Clarke smiled.

"Indeed it is. All yours." Smiled the principal leaving the room. The redhead started heading to a seat at the back of the class before she was stopped by Mr. Clarke.

"Alright hold up. You don't get away that easy." The girl sighed and came back to the front of the class. "Dustin drum roll." Mr. Clarke ordered to Dustin. Dustin flipped over his book and started tapping it making a drum noise. "Class, please welcome, all the way from sunny California. The latest passenger to join us on our curiosity voyage." Mr. Clarke paused for affect. "Maxine!"

"Its Max." The girl interrupted. Dustin recognise the name, Marley knew he was thinking of MADMAX from the night before.

"I'm sorry?" Mr. Clarke said confused.

"Nobody calls me Maxine. Its Max." Max answered.

"Well, all aboard Max." Mr. Clarke said pointing towards a seat in the back for Max to sit at. The boys watched her as she headed to her seat and sat down. Marley knew they were all thinking the same thing. At there lunch break the boys all stood behind the fences and watched Max on her skateboard while Marley sat on a pile of bricks next to them.

"There's no way thats MADMAX." Mike sighed.

"Yeah girls don't play video games." Will said
"Excuse me?" Marley said making all the boys turn to her.

"I mean um- except you!" Will stuttered.

"Relax its fine. Continue stalking the new girl." Marlow sighed.

"Hey i have and idea!" Dustin exclaimed. "How about Marley goes and talks to Max to see if she is MADMAX?" All the boys all nodded then turned around to her.

"Absolutely not." She said.

"Come on Marley why not!" Lucas cried.

"I mean if she doesn't want to she doesn't have to." Will mumbled.

"Marlow its for a good cause!" Mike exclaimed.

"Right you know what fine!" She said standing up. "Ill go find out if she's better than you at a game." Marley said sticking her tongue out to Dustin. She walked up to Max who was skating up and down. Marley sighed then put on a fake face.
