Chapter 26

One month later
Marley glanced as the TV, as her and Steve made there way to the front door, pausing to watch the news.

"Since the release of the incendiary tape, the once quiet town of Hawkins, Indiana, has spent time in a place it never expected. The national spotlight."

"What a load of bullshit." Marley said glancing at Steve,

"Come on." Steve said pushing Marley to the front door as he turned of the TV, the two of them walked to the front door, climbing in the car they began driving to Dustin's.

"You knocking or am I?"asked Steve stoping in Dustin's driveway.

"I'll knock." Said Marley opening the door. She made her way to the front door, and rang the doorbell. Marley waited for a few minutes when Dustin opens the door, greeting Marley with a smile

Marly giggled slightly, seeing Dustin's hair, It was obvious he had taken everything in Steve had said about doing his hair.

"Your hair Dustin." She exclaimed smiling as they walked back to Steve's car.

"I did everything Steve told me!" He said proudly opening the car door, Marlow did the same.

"Alright guys, here we are." Steve said coming to a stop out the front of the school gym.

"Thanks Steve!" Marley said, Steve turned to her, putting a hand around her, giving her a hug.

"Have fun kiddo." He gave her a smile, as Marley opened the car door up and climbed out.

"I will." She assured, standing by the car, waiting for Dustin to so they could walk in together.

"So remember once you get in there..."

"Pretend like I don't care." Dustin finished

"You don't care." Steve added

"I don care." Dustin finished again

"There you go, your learning, my friend, your learning." Dustin reached to check his face in Steve's rear view mirror, but Steve pushed his hand out the way

"Hey, come on, you look great, ok? You look... you look great." Steve reassured, and dustin nodded "ok know your gonna go in there, and your gonna look like a million bucks. And your gonna slay 'em dead."

"Like a lion." Finished Dustin purring

"Don't do that, ok." Steve quickly added

"Ok." Dustin agreed as Marley banged a hand on the window, making Steve and Dustin both jump.

"Hi, yeah, I hate to break up whatever this is, but are we going, or not?" Questioned Marley glancing at Dustin

"Good luck." Said Steve holding out a hand, Dustin grabbed it, giving it a small shake, Dustin opened the door and climbed out, and he and Marley made there way in to the school gym. Dustin stoped in the door and took a deep breath and followed Marley over to mr Clarke, where he was marking people off his list.

"Looking very snazzy tonight, sir." Mr Clarke said looking up from his papers.

"Thank you, my lord."

"You too Marlow." He added

"Thank you." Said Marley looking out the window, she could see Steve staring through the car window, she looked behind her and noticed Nancy. Marley sighed, she couldn't help but feel bad for Steve, she knew how much he loved Nancy, but now she was dating Jonathan. Marley turned her attention back to Mr Clarke and Dustin, after a while they made there way into the gym.

"Hey Nance." Dustin said as he walked past Nancy

"Hey." She said slightly confused, "Hey Marley." She added, Marley gave her a fake smile and kept waking making Nancy sigh, she was Steve's sister after all.

Marley and Dustin walked over to where the boys and Max were standing. Dustin did a little spin sticking his tongue out.

"Holy shit, what happened to you?" Questioned Lucas

"What do you mean what happened?" Asked Dustin

"What?" Questioned Mike

"Dude, your hair." Max cut in

"Is there a bird nesting in their?" Asked Lucas going to touch his hair

"What do you mean what's wrong?" Questioned Dustin "there's no bird nesting in here, asshole. Ok? I worked hard." He finished running a hand through his hair. Just then some music started playing

"Max..." asked Lucas, she turned to him "hey. Um it's nice right, you want to, um... you want to, like... you know? Like, just you and me?"

"Are you trying to ask me to dance, stalker?" Asked Max

"No, of course not." He stuttered "unless you want to?"

"So smooth. Come on." Said Max grabbing his hand and pulling him away from the others

Marley turned to Will and was just about to ask something when someone tapped her on the shoulder, Marley turned around and saw Troy standing there.

"Hey Marlow, want to dance?" He asked holding out his hand.

"Not really, no." She answered.

"You have to dance with someone." He said his face dropping.

"See Troy the word someone, to me eliminates you." Marley replied.

He sighed and walked off leaving Marley with a smirk, she turned back to Will, but before she could speak Will started.

"Do you want to, i mean would you like to-" Will stuttered. "Would you like to dance!" He blurted out.

"Of course." Marley smiled, he looked at her in shock like he expected Marley to say something else. "Come on." She said grabbing his hand, she walked with him to the middle of the gym and everyone stared at them both.

"Oh my god that's zombie boy." Marley heard multiple people whisper.

Marley stopped in the middle and placed her hands around his neck and Will put his hands on Marlow's hips. She could tell he was nervous.

"Are you okay?" Marley asked.

"Yeah I'm fine." Will stuttered.

Marlow looked past Will and saw Mike stand up and look at the door, she looked over to see him looking at El, Marley smiled as you watched them walk up to each other.
Neither of them could stop smiling, Marley glanced around, she saw Nancy and Dustin dancing, Max and Lucas dancing, and El and Mike dancing.

Finally everything was perfect, and the mind flayer was gone, after all this time, all was well, or so Marley thought.
