Chapter 27

It's been around 6 months since El had closed the gate. The kids were all 14 now. Each of the boys had grown, in height and their voices were deeper and damn they look good. Marley, Max and El had grown too, but the boys were still taller. Marley was really unaware of what the summer would bring, after all.

One summer can change everything.

Marley was in her bedroom trying to tie up her shoelaces when stubbed her toe on the edge of her bed, causing her to tumble over, she groaned in pain as Steve walked in to her bed room.

"Did you just fall over?" Asked Steve chuckling slightly, Marlow stood up

"Yes." She said slightly embarrassed

"Well do you want a ride to the mall?" Asked Steve

"the movie isn't on till like 8:30." Marley started, thinking out loud "that means I'll be at the mall by myself all day, I'll just come with you." She decided, "I just need to finish tying my shoes and grab some money."

"I'll meet you at my car then." Steve said, Marley nodded

"Sounds good." Steve walked out the room, and Marley tied up her other shoelace, before diving under her bed to find her money jar. Five minutes later Marley was sitting in the car next to Steve as they drove down the road.

"So, when's dustin getting back from camp?" Asked

"Tomorrow." Marley said "you could introduce me to Robin finally." Marley added

"No, that is not happening."

"Why?" Asked Marley, Steve ignored her "I'll come meet her myself then." They pulled up at the new star court mall, Marley and Max had gone a few times were the would have fun and abuse there money.

"Have fun Marley." Steve said "and don't spend all your money."

"I won't." Marley said "I'll come and have some ice cream with you later." She added

Steve nodded "ok, if you need anything come fine me."

Marley nodded "bye Steve."

Marley walked off, she wasn't really sure what to do, but she had a few hours to kill before she had to meet the others and the movie started.

Marley walked around for a couple of hours, trying on clothes.

she had to admit it was a lot more fun when she was with Max. Eventually she decided to go get some ice cream.

"Hi there" said Marlow happily to robin as she stood in front of scoops ahoy.

"Hi" said robin not mirroring Marlow's excitement

"Where's my brother?" Marley asked

"Your brother" Robin asked confused

"Steve."

"Steve's your brother?" Robin asked sounding even more confused, Marley nodded as Steve came out the sighed door.

"Marley" Steve called

"Steveee!!" Marley exclaimed Robin continued staring at Steve like he was a complete idiot.

"You never told me you had a little sister" Robin stated bluntly

"Because it's none of you business" he said as his face dropped "I told Marley I'd have ice cream with her, so you need to stay back here."

"What do you think I've been doing for the past hour?" Robin questioned

Marley and Steve sat at a table Marley eating her ice cream

"How's the ice cream?" Asked Steve

"Yeah, it's not to bad, I'm mean I don't love ice cream, but it's alright every now and again."

"You didn't have to get ice cream if you didn't want to." Said steve

"Yeah, but I wanted to do something with you cause you've been working all summer."

"We could've gone somewhere different, Robin could've stayed here by her self."

"What does it look like I'm doing right now?" Questioned Robin from behind the counter

"Ignore her" said Steve

"She seems cool" said Marley

"Yeah no" said Steve, looking at his watch it's 8:30." He added

"Then I should get going, as long as I beat Mike it's ok, cause he's always late." Said Marley standing up "you can have the rest of my ice cream." She added pushing the bowl over to him

"Alright, bye then." Steve said

"See ya." Marley exclaimed, just as she walked out scoops ahoy she could see Max and the boys coming down the escalator. So she walked over to where Lucas younger sister, Erica was sitting with her friends, eating ice cream.

"Where are your nerdy friends?" Erica questioned

"Coming down the escalator as we speak." Marley started as Mike walked in to someone

"Watch it!" They exclaimed.

"Sorry." Mike mumbled.

"Yeah watch it nerd!" Erica called

"Isn't it past your bed time?" Lucas smirked, as they walked past, Marley joining them.

"Isn't it time you died?" Erica replied

"Psycho!" Lucas replied.

"Butthead!" Erica yelled.

"Mall rat!" Lucas yelled back.

"Fart face!" Marley heard Erica shout.
Lucas stuck his tongue out at her then Max grabbed his arm.

"Well that was mature." She said pulling him with them all.

"Where are we going?" Questioned Marlow as she followed them to scoops ahoy.

"The line was too long at the cinema." Mike explained as they walked into scoops ahoy, robin rolled her eyes upon seeing them, Mike ingrown her and repeatedly rand the bell

"Hey dingus your sister and children are here!" Robin exclaimed.

From behind robin the glass window opened to reveal Steve, he sighed when he saw them all. "Again? Seriously?"

Marley smirked at him and Mike rang the bell once more. Steve let them in the back and opened a door which the employees used to get around.

"I swear if anyone hears about this-" Steve yelled to them all as they walked down the hall, before they all interrupted him.

"We're dead!" They all finished.

Mike opened the door to the movie theatre and looked through. "All clear." He whispered.
They all walked through the theatre, as Mike closed the doors, they all walked past everyone to get to the empty seats, Mike and Will all sat together and Marley Max and Lucas sat in the row in front of them all.

"See Lucas we made it." Mike whispered across Will.

"We missed the previews!" Lucas whispered back.

"Still made it, fart face." Max smirked.

Will opened his backpack and passed a can of coke over to Lucas followed by a pack of skittles.

"Skittle?" Lucas asked holding the packet out for Max and Marley

"Thanks." They both said taking some, just as the movie began playing they were seeing 'Day of the Dead.' Just as the movie began the lights flickered a few times before turning off, the movie stoping as well. Everyone yelled and groaned And Marley sank down in her chair, Marley was unaware that the entire mall had gone out of power and then the whole Hawkins. Suddenly everything came back on and the movie flickered on again, Marley smiled and sat back up.
