Chapter 40

"It was here." Max said as they all shone there torches on a wall at the end of the corridor. Robin and Nancy had also turned up. "Right here."

"A grandfather clock?" Asked Robin

"It was so real." Max sighed "and then, when I got closer, suddenly I just... I woke up."

"It was like she was in a trance or something." Dustin said

"Exactly what Eddie said happened to Chrissy." Marley said unable to hide the fear in her voice.

"That's not even the bad part." Max said taking a deep breath as she turned to face the group. She led them into Miss Kelly's office, sitting down and showing Chrissy and Fred's files.

"Fred and Chrissy, they both came to Miss kelly for help, uh they were both having headaches, bad headaches that wouldn't go away. And then, then the nightmares. Trouble sleeping. They'd wake up in a cold sweat. Then they'd started seeing things. Bad things, from there pasts. These visions, they just... they keep on getting worse and worse, until eventually... everything ended."

"Vecnas curse." Said Robin

"Chrissy headache started a week ago." Max went on "Fred's, six days ago. I've been having them for five days. I don't know how long I have. All I know is that, for Fred and Chrissy, they both died les than 24 hours after their fist vision. And I just saw that goddamn clock, so... looks like I'm gonna die tomorrow." Max finished breathing heavily, her eyes beginning to water.

Suddenly a clang could be heard somewhere in the school.

"Stay here." Steve said turning and walking out the office picking a lamp up on his way. Not listening to Steve everyone cautiously followed him out into the corridor. Footsteps could be heard approaching the rapidly, Steve lifted his lamp as Lucas ran around the corner, everyone yelling as Lucas jumped back.

"It's me!" Yelled Lucas holding his hands in front of his face

"Lucas?" Questioned Marley

"It's me." Lucas said again

"Jesus what's wrong with you man?" Questioned Steve

"I'm sorry." Apologised Lucas

"I could've taken you out with this lamp!" Exclaimed Steve

"Sorry guys, sorry." He said again "I was... I was biking for like 8 miles. Give me a second, shit." He added trying to catch his breath.

"We've got a code red." Lucas said still panting

"What?" Asked Steve

"Dustin." Lucas said walking over to him, "I've been with Jason, Patrick and Andy, and they've gone totally of the rails. They're trying to catch Eddie, and they think you know where he is. Your in terrible danger."

"Alright, yeah, that definitely sucks." Dustin spoke "but we've got bigger problems than Jason now." Dustin looked over at Max Lucas following his glance.

"Ok be honest uh... you guys understand any off this?" Asked Steve they were all reading a old newspaper on Victor Creel. They were all sat in the wheelers basement.

"No." Marley and Lucas said together

"It's pretty straight forward." Dustin said over the top of them.

"Oh, straight forward, really?" Asked Steve

"What's confusing to you?" Asked Dustin

"So far, everyone Vecna has cursed has died, except for this old Victor creel dude Nancy found." Steve started

"He's the only known survivor." Dustin cut Steve off "if anyone knows how to beat this curse, it's him."

"That's assuming he was cursed, which we don't know." Steve said "how can Vecna have existed in the 50s? It didn't make sense."
