The group had just returned from their mission to retrieve the stones from the past. The atmosphere was tense as they gathered together, exhausted from the battle they had just fought. Y/N appeared out of nowhere, growing into the present alongside the others. Bruce held the Eye of Agamotto, Scott had the Scepter, Rhodey had the Orb, Rocket and Thor carried the Extraction Device, and Steve and Nat had the Tesseract. Nebula retracted her time suit, equally drained.

The scene was heavy with sorrow as the group processed the events of the past few hours. Rhodey spoke up, his voice heavy with disbelief.

"Are you telling me that actually worked?"

Clint, his voice barely above a whisper, asked, "Did we get them all?"

Y/N dropped to her knees, overwhelmed by emotions. Steve turned to her with concern.

"Y/N? Are you okay?" he asked.

Y/N stared back, haunted by what they had just experienced. It was then that Bruce realized something was wrong.

"Where's Tony?" he demanded, his voice rising in alarm.

The others looked around, but Tony was nowhere to be seen. Y/N looked up at them, her eyes glassy with tears.

As the shock of the battle began to wear off, the group took some time to grieve. Bruce stood beside a bench on the dock, his eyes red with emotion. Behind him, Steve, Tony, Thor, and Clint stared out to sea, lost in thought.

"Do we need to tell Morgan and Pepper?" Steve asked, breaking the silence.

"No," Y/N said softly. "Let me tell my family. Give me an hour, and I'll be back."

With a heavy heart, Y/N snapped her fingers and teleported away, leaving the others to mourn the loss of their friend and comrade.

Y/N teleported to the lakehouse where her family was waiting. Pepper was the first to notice her arrival. She stood up, her eyes searching Y/N's face for any sign of what had happened.

"Y/N, what's wrong?" Pepper asked, her voice trembling.

Y/N's eyes were red from tears, and her voice was thick with emotion as she spoke.

"It's Dad... he's gone," Y/N said, her voice breaking.

Pepper's eyes widened in shock as she stumbled backwards, her hand covering her mouth. Morgan, Y/N's younger sister, who had been playing in the yard with dolls, ran over to her mother, confused.

"What's going on, Mom?" Morgan asked, her eyes wide.

Pepper couldn't bring herself to speak, so Y/N knelt down beside Morgan.

"Morgan, sweetie, can you look at me for a second?" Y/N asks, her voice trembling.

Morgan looks up, sensing the sadness in her sister's voice. "What's wrong, Y/N?" she asks, putting down her doll.

Y/N takes Morgan's hands in hers. "It's about Daddy," she begins, her voice cracking. "Do you remember when he went on that trip to the past to get the Infinity Stones?"

Morgan nods slowly, her eyes wide.

"Well, something happened," Y/N continues, struggling to keep her voice steady. "Daddy... he didn't make it back."

Morgan's face falls, tears welling up in her eyes. "What do you mean he didn't make it back?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

Y/N takes a deep breath, trying to hold back her own tears. "I mean... he's gone, sweetheart. He's not coming back."

Morgan's face scrunches up in confusion. "But you're a powerful witch, why couldn't you use magic to bring him back?" she asks.

Y/N sighs sadly. "Daddy wouldn't let me," she explains. "He knew the risks, and he didn't want me to take them. He loved both of us very much, and he wanted us to be safe."
