Cassandra Reid

I look at our intertwined hands in deep silence. The events of yesterday continue to swarm in my head. I feel like I'm living in an alternate reality.

I let out a small sigh before drawing a wide smile on my face.

"Are you okay?", His question catches me off guard and I lift my head from his shoulder to face him.

"Why wouldn't I be?", I take the audacity to steal a wet beak from him. "I'm great."

I think I've never been so happier.

"I want to take you out to dinner tonight," he quickly changes the subject.

I open my mouth wide as my brain goes numb for a few seconds. Who is this man and what has he done with my husband?

"Are you asking me out on a date?", I manage to formulate the question after several tries.

"If I asked you, you would have possibility to refuse. So no, it's just a statement."

"More like an order," I claim as I roll my eyes. It was too good to be true. However, I am not giving up. "You should be more romantic."

He cups my chin with his fingers to bring my face closer to his. His blue spheres impact against my green ones, plunging us into our own dimension. I think the car has stopped, but I don't pay attention to it.

"I'm sorry, cara, but there are things that will never change," he clarifies before kissing me.

He explores my mouth without qualms. He doesn't leave any free space to go, fueling the fire in my veins, a fire that I haven't been able to put out in the last few days.

I am insatiable and he is addicted to me. We have no remedy.

I nip at his lips and attack again, then I let him go. If we keep this up, I'm not getting out of this car today.

The driver opens the door for me and holds out his hand to help me out. Once outside, I stick my head in the door to say goodbye with a mischievous smile. This morning I woke up playful.

"Goodbye, husband."

"If you're trying to provoke me..." he uses a threatening tone as I bite my lips hard, "you're doing it", I bite even more in an attempt to contain my laughter. I like the new facet that I am discovering of myself. "Get out of here before I decide to kidnap you."

"It wouldn't be a kidnapping if I went of my own free will."

"Cassandra..." he hisses softly. From my position I can see the bulge formed on his legs.

"Okay," I wink at him. "See you soon."

I get into reception without being able to remove the silly smile from my expression. I don't even pay attention to the curious looks. By now I am used to being center of attention in my workplace.

Life is Beautiful.

"Good morning, Dr. Di Lauro," my secretary greets me with a cup of freshly brewed tea in hand.

The girl is a sun. Actually I should raise her salary.

"Good morning, Gia," I respond, thanking her for the drink. "Let's take it easy today, okay?"

"Yes, doctor."

I'm starting to like being the boss.

I shake my head and start with the files and then receive my first appointment.

By mid-morning, I unexpectedly start to feel hungry. My guts are raging uncontrollably and I have to take a break to eat something. The strange thing, three hours later I return to the same thing.
