Chapter 8

Hey Jellybeans! I was thinking of changing the discription of the story because it has turned out completley different than I intended. I was thinking of maybe adding a love triangle where Rose has to chose between Akio and Cole? What do you guys think? I also thought that, if I did add a love triangle, it would kinda be like The Mortal Instruments. Akio as Simon, Cole as Jace and Rose as Clary in a way. Anyway, my plan is to write it so the both end up having a crush on Rose, then put up a poll where you guys can vote for who you would prefear her to be with, then the boy with the most votes wins and Rose gets the other boy with someone else. Night came quickly. They all agreed to set up camp. Wendy and Romeo went to look foor wood to make a fire and told the other three to stay with the stuff. Cole was talking to Akio when he noticed Rose has disapeared. Akio stayed with the bags while Cole went off to find her.

"If I have to save her again..." Cole grumbled to himself, pushing through the branches of the forest. Cole then spotted Rose behind a bush, peaking over the edge. He went up to her. She looked determined

"Princess, what the hell..." Rose dragged him down beside her and shushed him violently.

"What was that!?" he heard a voice squeak. He peaked over the bush to see that Rose was spying on Wendy and Romeo. Wendy was clutching Romeo's arm tightly. Romeo was red in the face.

"I'm sure it was nothing Wendy" Romeo said, awkwardly patting her on the head " Come on, we need to find...." Rose sneezed making the bush rustle, and making Wendy scream, jumping into Romeo's arm, squeezing him tightly. He hugged back automaticly.

"I'm sure it was just a squirel or something" he told her. It took a few moments for them to realise what was happening. They quickly jumped apart, their faces red.

"Um... we'd better find the firewood and get back" Romeo said, not making eye contact with Wendy

"Yeah sure" Wendy mumbled back, also not looking at Romeo. They went deeper into the forest. Rose stood up and glared

"You almost messed it up!" she said, but then sighed "but I guess in a way you helped, so.... thanks" and at that, she began to walk back to the camp. Cole stood up confused Rose never said anything kind to him. It was weird. He wadered slowly back to the camp trying to figure out what the hell had happened. Rose arrived back at the camp to an annoyed Akio "Where the hell did you go!" she said to her "I was worried something had happened to you" Rose grinned

"Don't be such a worry wart" Rose told him "I'm fine aren't I?" Akio looked around

"Where's Cole, he went out to look for you" Rose looked around and shrugged

"I thought he was following me back, but he'll be fine" she went and sat down beside Akio

"Where did you actually go?"

"I followed Wendy and Romeo to see if they would do anything cute so I could ship them even more" Akio sighed an shook his head. Cole then apeared. He had a thinking face on.

"You ok Cole?" Akio asked him, Cole snapped out of his thoughts and looked up

"Yeah, i'm fine, was just thinking" Akio nodded. Cole walked over and sat on the other side of Akio. An awkward silence occured, no one knowing what to say, until Rose came out with

"I wonder what It'd be like to be a unicorn" Akio burst out laughing while Cole just looked at her, confused.

"What?" he asked, Akio began to calm down enough that he could actually talk

"Rose comes out with these random things when it's to quiet" Cole just shook his head. At that point Romeo came back, refusing to look each other in the eyes.

"You two ok?" Akio asked, while Rose grinned and Cole rolled his eyes

The next day, the 5 of them packed up and began to walk towards the town again. Wendy and Romeo where back to talking like nothing had happened, Akio and Rose where talking about Rose's birthday that was coming up fast. Cole was a few steps behind the others, a thoughtful look on his face. Rose looked behind her and saw him.

"What the hell's up with him" she mumbled to Akio. He shrugged. They walked for a long time before they arrived at the town. The streets where empty.

"It's like this place was abandoned" Akio said. Wendy shook her head.

"They're all too scared to go out because of the monster" they walked through the empty streets towards the mayors office. They knocked on the door and heard a faint voice say

"Enter". Wendy opened the door to reviel the mayor. He was quite a short man with graying hair, wearing a suit. "Are you the people who accepted my request"

"Yes" Wendy said, showing him the paper.

"Thank you so much" he said "this monster had been terrorising the town So far he has only came out at night but now the citizans are two scared to leave at all"

"Don't worry sir" Rose said grinning "We'll handle it!". After getting a breif explanation, the 5 left the office and came up with a plan.

"We'll split up" Romeo said "It's the best way to find the thing" They all agreed.

"How about you and Wendy go one way" Akio said to Romeo and Rose, Cole and I go another" Romeo thought for a while, but was unsure.

"You guys are still young. Rose isn't even 13 yet and you only just turned it, and i'm not sure about Cole"

"13" Cole answered "Have been for 6 months" Romeo was still unsure, but then Wendy came in.

"Come on Romeo, give them a chance. They want to prove themselves" Romeo sighed and Rose grinned, knowing Romeo always gives in to Wendy.

"Fine, but be carful" he told them before mumbling "Gajeel's gonna kill me" It was already becoming night so they split up.

"If you find it, send up a purple flame, if you are in danger, send up red" Wendy told Akio.

They 3 kids walked together. As they walked an argument broke out between Rose and Cole. It started over nothing, and grew...fast

"...So what if my dad is over protective, just shows he cares" Rose shouted

"That's not what i'm saying princess" Cole shouted back "I'm saying that you're a spoiled brat that gets everything she wants"

"That's a lie! I work to get what I want"

"SHUT UP!" Akio screamed at them both. Both stopped and Rose lookd at Akio in shock. He never had never raised his voice before, ever, to anyone. "I'm sick of you two fighting all the time. Plus if you don't be quiet then the creature will find us before we find it" Cole sighed

"You're right Akio, i'm sorry" he said to him "What did the Mayor say that it looked like?"

"He said it looked like a Vulcan, but twice the size" Rose gulped, Cole turned and smirked

"Scared princess?" Rose shook her head

"N..no" Rose said, acting brave "I'm not scared of anything!" Cole rolled his eyes

"Sure". They continued to walk for what felt like hours. Rose started to get bored

"Urg" she moaned "Why can't we just find it already"

"Calm down princess" Cole said annoyed at her moaning "It's not like the thing is gonna come up behind us and grab us" Rose screamed. Akio and Cole turned around. It was the creature. It had grabbed Rose. The mayor was right. It looked like a Vulcan, but was a lot bigger, its head only just being hidden by the tree tops. It had fur that that was matted and green drool that looked like poison dripping out of its mouth. It saw the boys and ran.

"I stand corrected" Cole said. Akio glared at him, tears in his eyes

"This is no time to joke around idiot!" he shouted "We have to save her"

"Send up both flames" Cole told Akio "Then wait here for Wendy and Romeo. I'll go find her"
