When Emmie awoke that next morning, she could no longer feel Joe's touch. The air felt cold, as she rolled over to find the bed empty and the sheets pulled back. She felt weird, not having the warmth of him beside her. He made her feel safe, comforted. She lie there for a while, taking in the morning atmosphere. Since being here with Joe, she felt more at ease. Like nothing could hurt her.

The sun broke through the cracks in the window, lighting up the room. As Emmie glanced around, she noticed the door was slightly ajar, meaning Joe was probably already wide awake. She slowly rose from the bed, wandering over the the en suite she had recently noticed stood in the far corner of the room.

She glanced at her reflection in the mirror, letting out a small laugh. You could tell she had slept well the night before. Her hair was all over the place, her eyes were droopy, she couldn't help but smile. Joe's bed was definitely comfier than her own. Emmie splashed cold water over her face to wake herself up a little bit. She managed to find a spare, unused toothbrush in the cabinet, followed by a few face washes and body sprays. She freshened up the best she could with the supplies she had, smiling to herself once she was happy with her appearance.

She strolled into the lounge, to find Joe with his back facing her, as he stood staring out the large windows, which had been pulled wide open. She admired the way he seemed so content. He leant against the window frame, completely in a daze as he watched the world go by.

Emmie slowly crept towards him with smile on her face. She stood beside him as they stared out at the morning sky together.

"Good morning, sleepyhead." Joe smiled once he noticed the girl beside him. "You sleep well?"

"I did actually." Emmie grinned.

"You want breakfast?" Joe offered, looking down at her.

"Oh no." She quickly stopped him. "I'm not really a morning person."

Joe couldn't help but smile. Emmie not being an early riser just made sense to him. He didn't know why.

"Do you mind.. if I borrow some clothes?" She asked awkwardly, toying with the same bracelet that always hung from her wrist.

"Of course." Joe smiled, shaking his head at her shyness. "Take anything you need."

Emmie grinned at him, thanking him.

"I'll be right back." She told him, skipping back into the bedroom, shutting the door behind her, as she heard Joe laugh.

He was glad her mood had brightened that morning. He couldn't stand to see her as upset as she had been. It broke him.

Staring into his closet, Emmie was quite surprised to see how many clothes Joe actually owned. There were many different jackets and shirts hung up the rail, with multiple pairs of folded pants laid on the shelves below. She was even sure he owned at least every pair of Adidas shoe. His closet was the most organised place she had ever seen. She was sure there were no crease's whatsoever among these clothes. She didn't want to mess it up.

She quickly changed into the best outfit she could find, consisting of another oversized shirt and the smallest pair of sweatpants she was able to tie up around the waist. As she finished combing out her hair, Emmie could hear her phone buzzing in the background. She ignored it, deciding she would answer it later. But it continued to ring.

Emmie sighed, picking up her phone, the screen lighting up to see multiple notifications from Thea. She furrowed her eyebrows as she opened the messages.

Thought you should see this.

Emmie was even more confused to find a link attached. She was hesitant at first, not sure if she really wanted to know what was about to unfold. But her curiosity got the better of her. She watched the link take her to an article she had never seen before. It had been posted overnight. The article showcased Joe this time. The first photo of him holding Emmie close within the crowd of paparazzi. But the other, was a photo of him that she had never seen before. He looked annoyed, or even upset.
