The group trudged through the overgrown grass, their exhaustion palpable. In their pursuit of answers about Sophia's whereabouts, they had stumbled upon an old church. The sound of ringing bells had echoed through the forest, drawing them towards it with hope in their hearts. Now, however, that hope felt distant and fragile.

Rick led the way, his eyes scanning their surroundings with caution. The others followed closely behind, their footsteps muffled by the thick layer of fallen leaves on the ground. It was eerie how the once sacred building now stood desolate and forsaken.

As they approached the church's entrance, the group's tension grew. Lori clutched onto Rick's arm, her knuckles turning white. Carol, her eyes brimming with tears, held onto Daryl's sleeve as if it were the only thing keeping her standing. And then stepped Ilene Peletier, Hunter Peletier, Kiara Grimes, Enzo Grimes, and Minho Rhee, who had quickly become part of the groups heart.

The doors creaked as Rick gently pushed them open, revealing a dimly lit interior. Dust particles danced in the air, stirred up by their intrusion. The stale smell of decay assaulted their senses, causing a few of them to gag.

As they cautiously stepped inside, a gasp escaped Kiara's lips. Her eyes widened in both shock and fear. "Walkers," she whispered, pointing towards the three figures sitting on the church benches, staring intently at the cross at the front of the room.

Hunter's grip on his sister's hand tightened instinctively. He had seen walkers before, but their familiarity did nothing to ease the terror that prickled his skin. Kiara stood close by, ready to protect her younger sibling 'Carl' at a moment's notice. Enzo and Minho, ever the silent protectors, stood at the back, their eyes scanning for any potential threats.

Rick motioned for everyone to stay quiet, raising his finger to his lips. They had to tread carefully. Each step was calculated, their movements slow and deliberate, as they inched closer to the walkers. The tension in the room was suffocating, their collective breaths held in anticipation.

With a swift and coordinated effort, the group made their move. The sound of a knife slicing through the air filled the room as Daryl struck the first walker. Kiara lunged forward, a determined expression etched on her face, and dealt with another walker.

Ilene, no stranger to survival, grabbed a nearby metal pipe and swung it with all her might, landing a solid blow to the head of the remaining walker. Her heart pounded in her chest, her fear masked by an unwavering determination to protect her family. Hunter watched, in awe of his sister's strength, as she fought off the walker with ease.

As the dust settled and their hearts settled back into a somewhat regular rhythm, the group took a moment to catch their breaths. The silence that followed felt heavier than the weight of the world upon their shoulders.

In the aftermath of the skirmish, Carol's eyes meet Ilene's. The grief they shared was unimaginable, both mother and daughter experiencing the same pain of not knowing where Sophia is in this unforgiving world. A silent understanding passed between them, one that only those who had experienced such loss could comprehend.

Enzo, his eyes now filled with somber determination, approached Rick. "We need to keep moving," he spoke softly but firmly. "Sophia could still be out there, and we owe it to her to find her."

Rick nodded, his gaze shifting from one member of the group to another. "He's right," he said, his voice filled with a newfound strength. "We won't stop until we find her. We don't leave anyone behind, but lets just take a break and then we will continue the search. Everyone agrees as Rick, Shane, Andrea, Glenn and Daryl go outside whilst the rest of the group seemingly stays inside the abondend church.
