A couple of hours later, as they pulled up to Alexia's apartment, Erin couldn't shake the restlessness gnawing at her.

The feeling she experienced wasn't easy to describe - it was a mix of emotions, a blend of excitement and anxiety, as if it was right but incredibly overwhelming at the same time.

It felt difficult.

Seated in the passenger seat, clutching the folder containing important papers, Erin watched as the two time Ballon D'Or winner circled the car, retrieving her suitcase from the trunk.

The therapist lifted her chin, surveying the building ahead, the understanding sinking in that she had arrived at Alexia's home. That Alexia had taken her home.

And at the realization, a blend of fulfillment and unease swept over her in that very moment.

Yes, this felt indeed overwhelming.

"Bonita?" Alexia's voice broke through her thoughts as the midfielder opened the passenger door, concern etched on her features. "Are you okay?"

Dressed in a cozy sweater adorned with hues of dark greens and blues complemented by vibrant yellow accents, her bleached hair cascaded over her shoulders, still slightly damp and tousled, the midfielder stood before her, one hand on the door, while the other firmly held Erin's suitcase, an irresistible sparkle in her eyes.

The power those eyes held.

The therapist managed a small nod, her voice barely above a whisper as she undid her seatbelt. "Yeah. Sorry, it's just... a little overwhelming."

"I understand, mi niña," the two time Ballon D'Or winner reassured her, her smile soft and understanding. With a gentle hand, she offered to help her girlfriend out of the car, her reassuring presence grounding the blonde, allowing her to feel at ease.

Ascending the stairs to Alexia's apartment, the therapist trailed slightly behind as the captain carried the suitcase, her fingers tightly clutching the folder Jonathan had handed her earlier.

"I hope you'll feel comfortable staying here with me," Alexia mused, her voice sounding a tad nervous as she slowed her pace to wait for Erin, reaching out to gently take the blonde's cold hand in hers, to guide her up the stairs.

Halting abruptly, the therapist tugged the brunette back, a confused expression crossing her features.

"Why wouldn't I feel comfortable with you? Are you worried I won't approve to your taste in interior design?" and, with an amused chuckle, she deftly snatched the keys from Alexia's grasp and hurried up the stairs, her voice trailing off as she ascended. "Which door?"

"Top floor. Left door," Alexia called after her, laughter lacing her words as she now followed Erin's lead, trying to keep up with the blonde's brisk pace.

Her heart swelled with emotion, with love for the woman she'd fallen for as she heard the therapist reach the top floor, quickly unlocking the apartment door before moments later, Erin's cheerful voice echoed through the stairway.

"Found it! I wonder if you—wow."

Entering the apartment a couple of seconds later, the two time Ballon D'Or winner closed the door shut with a soft click, her gaze falling upon Erin standing in the hallway, her back turned toward her.

"So?" Alexia teased, a playful smirk forming on her lips as she flicked on the lights, illuminating the cozy space she called home. "How bad is it?"

The apartment was now bathed in warm, golden light, casting a soft glow over the cozy place.
