THE ROSIERS' MANOR was beautifully decorated in different colored roses that were enchanted to bloom every once in a while, before withering once more.
The whole scene was beautiful, yet incredibly eerie.
The ride there was awfully strange, and with Regulus MIA; it got even stranger.
Walburga and Orion hadn't glanced at me ever since we got on the carriage. They both hadn't even moved; making them look almost like statues and when we finally reached the manor they disappeared into the crowd leaving me to my own thoughts.
I thought about what Regulus was doing and why he didn't accompany us, 'some task' Walburga said. I wonder if it had to do with 'you know who'.
"Look who's all dressed up!" A snarky voice said, quickly engulfing me in a tight hug. I knew it was barty from the smell alone.
"And dressed well, might I add." another comment, but this time it belonged to Rosier.
I jokingly bowed, "A beloved yet unexpected comment from the fashion obsessed himself? Wow I must have outdone myself"
Barty snickered while Evan masked his with a smirk,"Dare I say the best dressed?"
Barty and I both looked at him like he was on fire, but he quickly assured us, "I'm kidding, you didn't get this high"
"Ah, I was so close!" I wiped an imaginary tear while Barty patted my shoulder with pity.
A maid came and handed each of us a glass that contained a white, sparkly liquid.
I looked at Evan questioningly, but he was quick to shrug, "Don't ask, just drink and hope the night ends sooner".
So with that we, three, drank the liquid in one huge gulp; Hoping to get through the evening in one piece.
"Where's Regulus anyways?" Barty asked the million dollar question and I found myself rather hesitant to answer.
"'he has something to do' walburga said, though I've been itching all day to know what it is."
Evan and Barty shared a confused look, before looking at me again.
"Well hasn't he said anything?"
I denied, "Not even a word, I haven't seen him since last week."
Barty bit his tongue, but decided to say it anyway, "Do you think he's doing something for- you know?".
I paused, contemplating the possibility, "I thought so, but don't you think he would have told us? Don't you think we would have known about this?"
Evan sighed, "Carmen, these tasks are highly secretive, you think the dark lord would just tell us all every plan he makes? Besides; Regulus is his closest follower, closer than most of us and you know it. Think about it."
I didn't realize I was biting on my lower lip that hard until I tasted blood in my own mouth. I looked at Barty for confirmation; he, too, seemed to agree with Evan's doubts.
Who am I kidding? Of course he was doing something for the dark lord. Had I not been blinded by love I would have figured it out myself.
"If you'll excuse me for a minute." I said, rushing to find the restroom for a breath. I need a cigarette and now.
How could I be so stupid to think that Regulus would want to help me destroy him, of course he'd choose his side, of course he'd choose him over me, after all he believed in him long before I even existed in his life.
I must have been deeply consumed in thoughts because I accidentally ran into someone and that someone was none other than Avery Jr.
"I'm sorry-"
