Luo Lin narrowed his eyes, fixing his gaze on the first opponent of Shen Lei as he mobilized the dimensional energy. He had become somewhat more familiar with it thanks to exploring the dreamscape ability so that now, switching between the abilities wasn't as hard any longer and his control overall was better.

As before, the energy seemed to want to converge on his left-hand side, mirroring exactly what Shen Lei was doing on the other side. Luo Lin consciously held it back while trying to dodge the attack of the second demonic practitioner who had reached him. The guy was now attacking him instead of Shen Lei, clearly having realized that he was the weak point in this confrontation.

Shen Lei also noticed what was happening and his brows furrowed tightly. He gritted his teeth and struck out more fiercely, hoping to get rid of the first person so he could protect his fiance again. If anything happened to Luo Lin, he'd never forgive himself.

The fierce offense was a deterrent but seeing that the opponent was trying to protect someone and that there was someone to help, the demonic practitioner didn't even think of backing off. No, now was the time to fight back just as fiercely, to get rid of these two! They were clearly a danger to their faction's big plan so how could they let them live?!

The two of them were locked in a tough fight, with no energy to spare for the other person.

Shen Lei gritted his teeth, almost ready to let go of Luo Lin so he'd have a better chance to fight off this guy and also let his fiance have both hands free to protect himself against the other attacks. When he tried to, Luo Lin wouldn't let go though.

Shen Lei glanced at him, some traces of panic flitting through his eyes. He couldn't let him be hurt. He'd rather die himself than even watch Luo Lin be wounded. This had always been his attitude since the moment he first laid eyes upon him.

Luo Lin's gaze softened when he saw his lover look at him like this but he didn't back down. He barely evaded another attack but focused more on Shen Lei, mobilizing both his spiritual energy and the dimensional energy he could feel to form another projection. It always took him a bit to fully form it but this time, that was a good thing.

Bit by bit, the projection came to life but not in the mirrored way he had used before but instead on the side where Shen Lei was.

Needless to say, Shen Lei noticed something happening. They couldn't speak so he almost froze in surprise, thinking it was a new attack. Realizing that the energy came from his hand and sensing the familiarity, he understood though: Luo Lin had had an idea and was trying something. He ought to help him by buying some time.

He narrowed his eyes and struck out in a wide arc, forcing the other person to retreat somewhat. Then, he threw a spiritual attack at the other demonic practitioner. He was more experienced than Luo Lin so he wasn't afraid of accidentally hurting somebody else. Between his understanding of the battlefield and his intuition, such mistakes were unlikely.

The two people were forced to evade, giving them a moment. Shen Lei glanced at Luo Lin but couldn't get any answers now. He simply readied himself for the next attack, meeting the first opponent again who rushed back at them.

At this time, the projection had finally been completed. Luo Lin narrowed his eyes and then let go of his control, leaving the projection to follow Shen Lei's every move.

As his lover struck out, so did the projection. The two figures overlapped with hardly any gap between them, making it impossible to see if you didn't know what you were looking for. Even if somebody noticed, they'd likely think of it as the effect of some spiritual item or maybe the shield of someone with very fine control over the skill.

The demonic practitioner opposite noticed nothing. Thinking that his opponent shouldn't have had enough time between these two attacks to gather his strength and was simply getting desperate, he met the attack head-on, wanting to trade blow for blow to get rid of the stronger one among the couple first.

Their blades collided in the air and the sword of the projection added to Shen Lei's attack. It wasn't as strong as he himself, with Luo Lin being the medium to conjure up this projection, but with two hits landing together and one of them being unexpected, the demonic cultivator was thrown back and stumbled to the ground.

Luo Lin didn't stop to think and threw a spiritual attack at him at the same time as his fiance next to him did.

Surrounded by all those people fighting, the person didn't have the chance to get up or evade in time and was hit squarely in the chest. This kind of blow couldn't kill him but Shen Lei grabbed Luo Lin, pulling him away from the other attacker, and swung his blade in time, dealing their first opponent the last blow before focusing on the remaining one again.

Luo Lin exhaled, only now realizing that he had held his breath since the moment the projection had been successfully created where he wanted it. He followed Shen Lei's movements, making sure not to drag him down again.

The projection had already dissipated again as he wasn't able to keep this unfamiliar skill up for long. But if there was another opportunity, he was sure that he'd be able to condense another one and help Shen Lei out again. The best part was probably that the opponent wouldn't know what hit them, suddenly being confronted with a stronger attack than ever before when they had already gotten used to the rhythm. In that way, his ability was indeed able to make a big difference.
