Author's Note: Oh, look! It's chapter 777 of my "just 100-chapters long novel version of that one short story" 😅 Also, yes, totally gonna reach 888 as well but at least that's a lucky number 😁

Long Shu Fen blinked her eyes as Zhi Guan walked past her and then turned to look at Sect Master Du who was gaping but couldn't regain his bearing fast enough to even yell at the person who simply left. Her thoughts churned and she jumped up, rushing after Zhi Guan and grabbing his arm, directly pulling him into her dreamscape before they even reached the main entrance of the Sect Master's palace.
Don't kid her! That Du Jiang wanted to push her into a little circle and keep her there for eternity if he could. With Zhi Guan gone and all the Elders gathering, they'd likely question her more and make more demands of her than they talked about the situation in the border region, not just causing a delay they couldn't allow to happen but also causing her a literal headache. She certainly wouldn't stay around for either!
Zhi Guan didn't mind being pulled out of the usual dimension. Anyway, he could see the dreamscape so the surprise wasn't that big. He turned to look at her though, not sure if she had gotten his idea or just ran after him due to her own ideas. There seemed to be some bad blood with Sect Master Du.
Long Shu Fen heaved a sigh of relief. "Phew! Finally, we're out of there. I really don't want to see his face if I don't have to." Saying so, she continued pulling at Zhi Guan's arm. "Let's go back to the border region then. The others should meet us there soon." Also, depending on when the demonic faction actually attacked, it was best to be there earlier.
Zhi Guan inclined his head but he still thought about what had happened just now. Why did he have such a bad feeling about telling the Sect Master of the Jian Chu Sect about the specifics of the situation in the border region? Even though that person hadn't treated Blue Butterfly very nicely and had questioned the validity of her words and also his own, that might at best just make him overly cautious and at worst someone who was too selfish to consider the big picture. But even such a person shouldn't cause too much of an issue. So why did he feel himself jolt at the thought of exposing anything?
He pondered for a moment and finally turned to Blue Butterfly. Anyway, she knew this person better. "Is there anything ... off about Sect Master Du?"
Long Shu Fen turned to look at him and raised her brows. "Because he questioned you like this? No, he's always been like this. Believe me, I didn't think he was a good choice for the position when they picked him back then either but it's been so long, it's unlikely to change again."
Zhi Guan shook his head. He didn't know about how this person led his sect but ... he felt like his issue wasn't simply that. "I had a foreboding feeling when he asked for more information. As if ... something bad would happen if we offered any up."
Long Shu Fen stopped walking and turned toward him, her expression turning serious. Every cultivator developed some kind of intuition but it was usually toward situations that were an immediate threat to you. She didn't think that was the case here since she had felt nothing and she doubted Du Jiang would have dared to attack Zhi Guan in front of her. Despite that, she had no doubts that what Zhi Guan was saying was true.
Maybe it was because she had been friends with Tong Chen for so long but upon hearing about something like this, she simply believed it and not just the fact that Zhi Guan had sensed some kind of danger but even that this sense was correct. Thus, she wondered instead what the fuck was going on.
Despite the fact that she disliked Du Jiang quite a lot and didn't think he was fit to be the Sect Master, she didn't believe he'd simply abandon the people already in the border region and sit back to watch. She couldn't imagine him betraying them either even if he knew that the situation wasn't very hopeful. So why ... did Zhi Guan feel this way?
She thought of how he could sense her dreamscape without issue and even enter it. Plus, in the previous discussions, he seemed to have played a vital role. It was clear that he was experienced and even though he was without an ability, his perception was still incredibly high. So ... there should be something more to this ... right?
She pursed her lips and finally shook her head. "Alright, we're not going to figure it out on our own. Let's go back to your Teng Yong Sect before we really return and ask Tong Chen. He has more experience with these kinds of things and maybe he can figure out whatever the future holds in regard to the Jian Chu Sect."
Zhi Guan nodded. Even though it might be nothing, their situation was already like this. He'd rather not let any potential issues slip through. If there really was an issue in the Jian Chu Sect, they ought to take this seriously.
The two of them agreed quickly and Long Shu Fen changed directions, bringing Zhi Guan straight back to the Teng Yong Sect. Anyway, Shang Qiang and Yan Jian Hong were still traveling with the younger disciples and would go there as well. Maybe they could pick them up on the way back. That'd be quite convenient.
Long Shu Fen was thinking quite beautifully but while the two guardians certainly could have made the trip to the Teng Yong Sect in time, the same couldn't be said about the young disciples accompanying them. Thus, when the two of them arrived, what greeted them was still only Tong Chen with the remaining disciples of the Teng Yong Sect huddled around. Well, at the very least, they could still ask their question and would hopefully gain a few answers.
