For the third time,I wanna apologize to the three people who had to read the post yesterday which I took down as immediately as I could. I’m sorry.

Half of this chapter is rewritten and all is revised. (Tuesday.)

“Why not that boyfriend part?” she countered as we both got out of the car. “We’re gonna have to hose guys off of you when you’ve made the team and won the concert.” She said with a straight face.

I let out a chuckle, merely at the impracticality of it.

“Yeah, yeah. Whatever.” Waving off, I was already on my way when I felt her snake her arm around mine.

“By the way, Ian’s gone to New York.”

“So?” My nonchalant expression was genuine as I somehow didn’t feel particularly glad.

“So you can come if you want,” Not letting go, she practically dragged me along with her, “You know, to save you the trouble.” I smiled inwardly.

For a second there, I’d thought I could fool her.

“I really have to see that list.” I stated, the authority in my voice somehow weak.

“And Ian really is not here.” she pulled me along without any observable resistance on my part. I wasn’t too eager to go, anyway. “I don’t like the guy very much, either. I mean, he looks nice and all.”

“But…?”

“The guy’s a phony.”

“I thought you two got along pretty well yesterday.” I queried but a random thought suddenly crossed my mind. “Hey, you haven’t locked the car.”

“Really?” she exclaimed, already dropping my hand.

“Yes, really, Scattered-brains.” Giggling, I watched her as she scurry back to the car.

“Phew, that was close.” She wiped the non-existent sweat off her face as she reached me. “Mom’s gonna kill me if anything happens to that car.”

“You’re welcome.”

She rolled her eyes. “Thanks. I owe you my life.”

Grinning, I pulled her in under my arm as we resumed the walk.

“So you were saying?”

“Oh, yeah. The guy’s a phony. I mean, it was obvious he just hanged around me so that you don’t feel too awkward.” I couldn’t hide the smile at her cute scowl as she went off about it. “While I admire the decency, I felt like being used.”

I nodded as we entered the building.

“And you weren’t there after the break yesterday. The guy acts like the whole universe revolves around him.” She croaked. “Even Steve seemed annoyed. I just can’t stand people like him.”

“And you’re telling me this because?”

“Means he’s off your potential boyfriends list.”

“There’s a list now?”

She grinned and pushed open the door. There was no one in the room but she obviously wasn’t looking for anyone in the first place as she went straight into the back. While I waited, I pondered whether I should tell her about him and Nicole.
