I talked to Finn after class and told him I'd be late to The Hangout because of detention so he should just go on without me and I'd meet him there. Except, I didn't have a ride from here to there since Xander had been the one to drive me to school. I groaned. I wasn't going to have my mother come here and drive me to the club. That was just way too embarrassing. Whatever, I'd figure it out later.
Right now, I had to survive through detention.
"For your misconduct and misbehavior in class today, the both of you will clean the boy's bathroom on the first floor," Mr. Duncan said in his classroom after school.
"Uh, I'm not supposed to-"
"Yes sir," Ryker said, cutting me off. He grabbed my elbow and dragged me out of the room. I swatted him with my cast, but he didn't stop pulling me until we were in the disgusting boy's bathroom. A bucket of water and a mop were already in here along with a sponge and some spray.
The bathroom had three stalls, four urinals, and four sinks. This was going to be one hell of a cleaning job. Everything was blue and white, from the tiles on the floor to the doors on the stalls.
Ryker dropped my arm and hopped up on one of the sinks. His legs were so long that his feet were firmly planted on the ground. He leaned back against the mirror and said, "You got us here, you get us out."
"What! I'm not cleaning this place alone. You're in just as much trouble as I'm in!" I yelled, almost knocking over the mop with my flailing arms. I hurried to steady it as Ryker said, "Remember our deal."
I gave him my meanest glare and yanked the mop out of the bucket. He was such an ass, making me clean the whole nasty bathroom by myself so that he wouldn't post that stupid video of me. It was screwed up in so many ways.
I started mopping the floor while Ryker just watched me. I stopped to plug in my headphones and listen to music to make this less dreadful.
I went into the first stall to mop the floor and gagged. It smelled awful, holy crap. It was so hard to clean with one arm in a cast. This was going to take me forever if Ryker didn't help.
Hey, if I took long enough to clean the bathroom, then neither of us would make it to The Hangout on time which meant I wouldn't have to read my poem to Finn. I had already told Finn about how I was being forced to read the poem and he just shook his head. Ryker was his best friend so he wasn't going to do anything about it. I just didn't want to embarrass myself in front of everyone.
I shut the stall door behind me and blasted my music. Then I held the mop as horizontal as it would go in the small space and used it as a fake guitar. I thrummed my hand up and down and whipped my hair all over the place. I even started lip syncing the words to the song I was listening to.
I didn't hear the door open over my loud music so when one of my headphones was pulled out of my ears, I jumped.
"Interesting," Ryker said with an amused look on his face. He had my missing headphone in his ear and a huge smirk on his face. He bobbed his head to the music. He so knew this song.
My cheeks flamed. I hadn't even realized what I was listening to. Of course Ryker would find it hilarious. The song blasting through my headphones was Lollipop by Framing Hanley and it was at the most embarrassing part. I bet you could guess.
I ripped the headphone away from him and shoved him as hard as I could with one arm. He grabbed my arm as he stumbled backwards and I was yanked forward with him. I fell right against his chest. I could hear his heart beating rapidly against me ear.
His arms came up to steady me and I tore out of his grip.
"Get out!" I yelled, pointing at the open stall door.
