I bolted.

Ryker snapped out his arm to grab me, but I was faster. I ran out the kitchen and didn't stop until I was safely locked behind my bedroom door. I panted with my hands on my bent knees, leaning against the door.

The door thudded behind me as the doorknob jiggled.

"Don't you have a job to go to or a band to rehearse with?" I yelled through the door.

"Don't you work at The Grill?" He countered.

I gaped at the shut door. Shit. I'd completely forgotten about my job since my accident. No doubt I was fired by now. I didn't even want to know.

"Not anymore," I mumbled, then said more loudly, "Leave me alone and go do whatever it is that you usually do."

"Hmm, in that case I think I'll go see Hannah..." He said, footsteps becoming quieter as he walked down the hallway.

I clenched my fists. He purposely said that to spite me and make me angry. I wasn't angry.

But then why did something nasty settle at the bottom of my stomach that felt like jealousy?

I didn't think as I yanked open my door. All I could think about was stopping him from leaving.

I sprinted around the corner, yelling "Ryk-" as I smacked right into him. My arms pin wheeled as I started to fall backwards. His arms shot out, wrapping around my waist. In one fluid motion, he had me pinned against the wall with his hands on my hips.

His eyes glowed bright in the dim light of the hallway. Something swirled around in the blue around his pupils that I couldn't identify. Before I could even register what had happened, his lips covered mine. My instant reaction was to shove him off of me. I raised my hands to his shoulders to push him off.

I didn't mean to do what I did next. Instead of pushing him away, my hands rose higher and tangled in his messy black hair. I sighed and Ryker deepened the kiss with his body flushed against mine. His hands dipped under my shirt and I sucked in a breath as he touched my bare skin. He groaned and I felt the cold bite of his piercing dig into my lip.

I trapped the ring between my teeth and Ryker's eyes flashed open. I smirked against his mouth as his hands tightened around me.

"Jealous, Angel?"

I froze.

Narrowing my eyebrows and removing my mouth from his, I pushed him off of me and pulled down my shirt.

"What?"

He ran his tongue over his lip piercing before he said, "Once you thought I was leaving to go hang out with Hannah, you came barreling out of your room and threw yourself on me."

I gawked, "I ran into you-"

"Trying to stop me from leaving," he interrupted.

I jabbed my finger at his broad chest, "No, I was going to tell you that you were forgetting something."

Whew, I was good at lying.

"And what would that be?"

I crossed my arms, "Clearly you don't need it if you were so ready to leave without it."

His eyes turned a dark blue as he said, "Come on. We both know you're lying. I didn't forget anything. You just don't want me to leave. You can't bear the thought of my tongue down some other girl's throat, can you?"

Was he right?

"Pfft, as if," I scoffed, "It's too bad Hannah doesn't know you're cheating on her by kissing me behind her back."
