"Gray!"

A happy, (h/c) haired girl darts towards her best friend and tackles him into a hug. Gray has just come back from a job with Team Natsu and has grown accustomed to (Y/n)'s bone-crushing hugs.

The two mages have been friends since they were in diapers. After Ur had sacrificed herself to seal away Deloria, Gray had run off to find (Y/n). (Y/n) took him to the Fairy Tail guild and convinced him to join, promising him that all the members of Fairy Tail would become his new family.

Like she had promised, Fairy Tail is now his family. Despite all the ups and downs the guild has faced, nothing has and will ever tear them apart.

Gray lets out a loud chuckle as he ruffles his best friend's hair. She pouts and playfully smacks his hands away. Before the two friends can do anything further to annoy each other, Juvia comes up to the duo and clings onto Gray's arm.

"Gray-sama! Why are you with such a unladylike person! Such behavior is not good for my Gray-sama," the water mage glares disgustedly at (Y/n) while fawning over Gray.

Ever since she joined Fairy Tail and began to worship Gray, (Y/n) felt a pang of jealousy and hurt. Juvia refuses to let any female other than herself around the ice mage and constantly insults (Y/n). Her obsession with him is ridiculous, yet Gray never seems to really care. Everytime Juvia insults (Y/n), he says nothing and never says anything to defend his best friend.

"A rival in love, Juvia cannot forgive this, Juvia will not forgive (Y/n)!" The

Juvia begins her possessive "Love rival" declaration to Gray while he just stands there. Seeing that he'll do nothing about the water mage's actions, (Y/n)'s head hangs and she walks out the guild unnoticed.

A part of her wants to be mad at Gray, but she can't find it in her heart to do so. 'How can I? He seems happy with her...' Seeing her best friend happy, (Y/n) decides to ignore the ache in her heart. All that matters to her is his happiness. The pain in her heart will have to be endured.

~Time Skip~

The sun shines brightly in the morning sky. (Y/n) feels a bit saddened about yesterdays events, but brushes it aside. She was unable to sleep last night due to the churning emotions within her.

As long as he is happy.

As long as he is happy.

Those six words play through her mind like a broken record. She cares about his well-being. If that means that her heart will continue to hurt, then so be it.

~Time Skip~

Upon further arriving at the guild, (Y/n)'s heart shatters. Juvia is sitting beside Gray with her head on his shoulder and his arm around her waist. The two mages are laughing and having a good time. Gray fails to notice (Y/n)'s hurt expression as she walks into the guild. She just sits at the bar and asks Mira for a drink, ignoring Gray and Juvia. Happy comes along spot comfort (Y/n) after seeing the state she's in.

Gray is puzzled as to why (Y/n) chose to sit at the bar and not with him. He assumes that she's needs some space, but gets interrupted by Juvia before he can ponder about it more. Juvia stares at him with a small pout on her face.

"Gray-sama? What's wrong? Gray-sama is not paying attention to Juvia."

The blue-haired mage's whining reminds Gray of his surroundings. Glancing from the girl on his lap to his drink, the thoughts that filled his mind not even thirty seconds ago are forgotten. He motions for Juvia to stand before doing so himself.

"It's nothing, Juvia. C'mon, let's go."

Without saying another word, Gray places his hand on the small of her back and the two make their way to the guild's doors. The two mages walk past the bar and Gray catches a glimpse of (Y/n).

His best friend's usually neat hair is now a mangled (h/c) mess, dark circles adorned the space under eyes, and her once (s/t) skin is a bit pale. From the several feet away from the bar where Gray was sitting, hadn't noticed the change in (Y/n)'s appearance.

What happened to her?

The same question plagues his thoughts as he continues towards the door, his hand still on Juvia's back. A flurry of questions and scenarios play through Gray's mind. He's confused and worried.

'(Y/n) seemed fine yesterday,' he recalls and continues to play the previous day's events. 'I came back from a job with Team Natsu and she greeted me at the guild entrance. Then Juvia came along and we began to talk. After that I didn't see (Y/n) for the rest of the -'

Gray stops walking right as he and Juvia leave the guild, realization hitting him. Retracing the evens from yesterday, along with the realization of (Y/n)'s actions and kindness towards him, the ice mage begins to piece together the situation.

'She likes me!'

Ever since they had met, he was quite fond of her. As they grew older, Gray went from a schoolgirl's crush to real, fully-developed feelings of love for (Y/n). The more and more he spent time with her, the more he convinced himself that she didn't reciprocate those feelings,

Now, he knows.

He immediately turns back to the guild and flings open the doors. The guild members think nothing of it, since loud commotions aren't out of the ordinary, and most of them ignore Gray as he runs over to the bar where (Y/n) is still at with Happy.

"(Y/N), I LOVE YOU!!" The black-haired mage shouts his declaration of love as loud as he can.

Following Gray's shout is the loud sound of glass shattering. His actions surprise (Y/n), causing her to drop the drink in her hand. Her
(e/c) eyes widen like saucers and she stays frozen in shock.

Silence sweeps over the entire guild hall. All the mages of Fairy Tail pause what they're doing and quietly look over at (Y/n) in anticipation for an answer.

A soft smile forms on (Y/n)'s face. She nods, places Happy onto the counter, then runs into Gray's arms. The guild breaks the silence and erupts into joyful cheering.

Juvia still stands at the doorway of the guild hall in shock and disbelief. All that attention and affection Gray had given her and such being reciprocated from her .....only for him to turn around and confess his love someone else. Just like (Y/n) not too long ago, Juvia's heart shatters.

With her index finger pointing at (Y/n), Juvia yells accusingly," LOVE RIVAL! (Y/N) TOOK GRAY-SAMA AWAY FROM JUVIA! JUVIA WILL MAKE (Y/N) PAY!"

More than half the guild sweatdrops before jumping into action to restrain the crazed, powerful water mage and take defensive stances in case of the possibility of having to protect the so called "love rival."

(Y/n) and Gray blankly stare at Juvia as several guild members hold her back while Master Makarov scolds her.

"Soooooooo.......would you like to go out to dinner with me tonight, (Y/n)?"

"Of course!"

Walking with their hands intwined, the new couple walk out of the chaotic guild knowing that their lives are going to get even more chaotic.
