After the game was over—23-7—we gathered on the field and celebrated. Because of the homerun, the team was promised ice cream. The guys all thanked me and we headed back to the dugout to gather our stuff.
I walked to the bleachers and met up with Maggie. I wrapped my arms around her and she kissed my cheek. "You stink." She said, smiling at me.
"You were here for the homerun, right?"
Maggie smiled. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."
Max walked over with Emmett, Felix came from the other direction. Max and Felix wouldn't look at each other. Emmett grabbed my head and ruffled my hair. "Proud of you."
Max smiled at me. "You played well. Glad I came to watch." Max hugged me.
Maggie looked super uncomfortable. "Uh, Maggie, this is Emmett and Felix and Max. Guys, this is my, uh, girlfriend Maggie."
Max looked at Emmett like they knew something I didn't.
Felix was looking at Max, a peculiar look in his eyes. Max didn't even notice.
"Guys," I said, smiling at Mags, "I stink."
