Felix

"So what was up with you and Max today? There was obvious tension between you both." Emmett asked as we loaded the dishwasher.

"Uh, yeah. You noticed?"

"You guys sat as far away from each other as you could at Caven's game. Yeah. I noticed. What happened while we were gone?"

"I uh... I scratched her. Badly. Not really scratched, though, more of a bite."

"What?!" Emmett dropped a fork into the sink. "How?"

"We fell asleep by the bonfire, and so to keep her warm I shifted, and then when I was asleep I was having a nightmare so she woke me and when she did, I snapped at her and bit her. Badly."

"Oh my God, Felix!"

"It was an accident, and she knows that. She just needs some space, that's all."

Emmett gripped the countertop and let out a breath. "Does anyone else know? Her grandmother maybe?"

"She's not stupid, Emmett, she wouldn't want Julie to worry about her. It's just us three."

Emmett's grip on the counter loosened. "Good. Make sure it stays that way."
