"Good afternoon, students," Bianka called, almost singing, as she strolled through the entrance to the outdoor practice arena. She smiled brightly as she stood on the padded dirt, the sunlight making her pink lip gloss shimmer like jewels. "I hope that you've all been practicing on your fira. We're going to have a little test."
A student's hand raised. "Since you said that figara was impossible to teach, does that mean that the class is almost done?" Bianka simply stared blankly as he added, "Because, you know, that would be awesome."
Bianka gave a hearty laugh at the class's confusion. "Silly little boy. You've only just scratched the surface of the Fire elemental powers. Pyrokinesis is only step numero uno of our abilities." The Apprentices groaned but she continued. "Now, everyone get a single file line. Those of you who aren't able to conjure fira will have to see me after class." The students all lined up, standing tall and straight.
Dre moved down the line to stand beside Kim, who gave a shy smile as he took his spot. "Heya, Kimmy," he whispered. "Did you practice anymore after I left yesterday?"
She nodded. "After I conjured it the first time, it easier for me to do it the second, and even easier the third."
"So, do you feeling confident?" he asked with a sly smile. "How about we make a little wager? If we both pass, then we'll go celebrate by going out to eat somewhere?"
"Oh?" Kim's ears perked as she looked at him, eyes widened. She blushed as she said hesitantly said, "Y-you mean like a date?"
"Well, not exactly a date," Dre said, embarrassed. "I mean, like a celebratory, have a good-time type deal."
Kimmy grinned as she nodded. "Okay. It sounds like fun."
"Ke'Undre Wolf?" Dre's eyes hastily shifted forward; Bianka stood in front of him, her arms folded across her chest. "I don't suppose that you have any problem with fira, considering that you were the only Apprentice who started his training with it." She closed her hazel eyes as she sighed deeply. "However, I don't want to single a person out, so let's see it."
Kinda hard to believe seeing as though you literally just did.
Closing his eyes, he cupped his hands in front of him and breathed out as he ignited his hands. At once, he felt the warmth of the fire increase. His eyes were opened to a blue pillar of fira warping around the fireball before it completely engulf it. Around him, the students mumbled among each other, possibly with jealousy. Dre wasn't surprised, though. He'd probably be jealous of himself as well.
"As expected." Bianka grinned as she walked down the line to Kimmy. "Miss Kim. If you would?"
"Yes ma'am," she said as she cupped her hands together. A soft breeze blew through the training ground, making her blonde hair gently sway from beneath her sky blue baseball cap. Her ears twitched slightly as she closed her eyes and focused. Something was different about her, Dre noticed. She looked completely at peace as fire poofed to life in her hands. His heart thumped hard in his chest as he gulped, wishing that the wind cooled his heated face. She softly exhaled as blue pillars swirled around the fireball, before it was swallowed by the blue, becoming an orb of fira.
"Nice work," Bianka said with a smile. "I see that Ke'Undre's tutoring helped out."
"Miss Bianka. No," he murmured under his breath, covering his eyes with a hand. He could feel everyone's glare deepen as Bianka went down the line to the next Apprentice. Just keep digging my hole deeper, Miss Bianka.
"I did it!" Kimmy whispered. She gave a wide smile as she grabbed his wrist. "Thank you for helping me, Ke'Undre. I probably wouldn't have been able to do it without you."
