Chapter 18

After dinner Narcissa went up to her room and left Scorpius and Rose alone downstairs. The two sat in the second living room in the manor. There were two white sofas on either side of the large black and white room and Scorpius and Rose sat cuddled up in the corner of one of them. They had put a film on the huge flat screen TV but neither of them were paying attention to it. Scorpius was staring at the black and white beanbags, that lined the last wall in the room opposite the TV, even though he really wasn't taking in what he was seeing. Rose was looking out the back window looking at the view that the window stared out onto. There was a big lake in front of lots of hills and next to the forest they had past on their way from Kings Cross station. Behind the lake there was a small building that the Malfoys owned along with the lake and the forest. Rose had just watched the sun set and was now staring into the blackness of the night. She looked up to see the stars shining brightly down on them and then she noticed it

"Scorpius" Rose whispered, not wanting to break the silence but wanting to talk to him "Look" She pointed up to the stars and to a certain spot in the sky

"What?" Scorpius answered, also whispering

"Look, the stars" 

"All I see is stars, what is so special about it?"

"There's a constellation, do you know them?"

"I know what a constellation is, but I don't really know any of them"

"Oh, well you see those stars over there" Rose pointed to a bunch of stars towards the right of the window, " That constellation's name is Scorpius" 

"Really? I'm named after a constellation?" Scorpius asked

"Yeah, your Dad is named after a constellation. Scorpius and Draco are both latin names. In English Scorpius means Scorpion and Draco means Dragon. The Draco constellation is supposed to look like a dragon in a way and the Scorpius constellation is supposed to look like a scorpion, in some way, I don't get it, but that's their names, and what their English names are, I can't change that" Rose explained

"That's..uh..interesting" Scorpius answered, looking down on the floor 

"I'm sorry Scorp... I thought it was just something to say" Rose said looking up at Scorpius

"No, it's okay Rosie! I really was interested, it's just what I was thinking" Scorpius said, his grey eyes still glued to the floor

"What's the matter Scorp?" Rose asked, with a bit of fear wavering in her voice 

"It's just, Dad's  coming home on Monday, and it's Saturday tomorrow so he will be home soon and he will come pick me up from here and he'll see you and I know that he won't let you come to his house but I don't want to go without you Rosie"

"It's okay Scorp, I promise, we'll do something" 

Rose looked into Scorpius' eyes with a mixture of fear, guilt and sadness. Scorpius' eyes held the same emotions. Rose tried to smile at him but the most she could do was to raise the corners of her mouth. Scorpius looked into her eyes and slowly leaned in until their lips were touching. Scorpius put his hands round Rose's waist and Rose moved her hands to his neck. After a while they broke away for air and they sat in silence staring in each other's eyes.

"I love you Rosie" Scorpius whispered

"I love you too Scorpius" Rose whispered and she leant on his chest. 

She could hear the faint beating of his heart as she lay on him. Before she knew it, she was asleep.
