Chapter 20

The next day Scorpius and Rose went into the muggle village near the Malfoy Manor. Rose took the card out of her pocket that Dudley had given her the previous day. 

"Over there!" Rose said, pointing to a red phone booth on the other side of the road

"That's a phone? Wow, it's big"

"No! That's a phone box, the phone is inside" Rose laughed as they crossed the road

"Oh, I can't see it" Scorpius said, looking through the windows "And how do you use the phone if it's in there?" 

"Use the door" Rose pulled open the door and went inside before holding it open for Scorpius to come in

"So, is this the phone?" Scorpius said, picking up the phone

"Yes, I'm going to call Mr Dursley, see how he's doing and you can use the phone" Rose pulled a coin out of her other pocket and put it in the slit in the phone box

"What was that?" 

"Muggle money, it's called a pound coin" Rose explained, pulling another one out of her pocket "Here, you can have this one, I have spares in my trunk in case I need it" 

"Wow, this is cool" Scorpius replied, admiring the token thingy in his hand

"Okay, be quiet now, I'm calling Dudley" Rose said, pushing the buttons with the numbers as she followed the numbers on the card

"Why?" 

"Just be quiet" Rose said "Hello is this Mr. Dursley?...Yes please Ma'am...Hello Mr. Dursley...Rose, yes...Okay Dudley... How are you?...Yes very good thank you...Yes, could Scorpius talk to you, he wants to know what a phone is and how to use it... yes him... thank you, I'll pass you over now! Scorp! Hold this and talk, you'll hear Dudley talking to you, don't freak, that is supposed to happen, just talk normally"

"Um..Okay.. HELLO?" Scorpius shouted down the phone to Dudley on the other side

"No Scorp! Don't shout, talk normally" Rose scolded

"Sorry...Hello?..Yes that's me... How does this thing work?...That's amazing...Okay, I'll pass you back over...Yes, goodbye! Rose, he wants to talk to you again" Scorpius passed the phone back over "I'll be outside, it's cramped in here"

"Okay, hello Dudley!...Yes, sorry 'bout that... Good. Um Dudley?... I really want to talk to you about something, but I can't now, is there any time I can call you, like later?...Yes, I don't really want Scorpius around...No he's outside...Okay, yes that will be fine...Okay Dudley, bye!" Rose put the phone down, collected her change and went outside to Scorpius

"Okay, your done now, that's good, there's something I want to show you, but we have to go home first, Grandma's in the car over there waiting to take us back, come on" Scorpius said

"Okay, but it's getting late, it's like six o'clock already, it will be dark if we go out again after dinner" Rose said as she got in the car

"Maybe, maybe not" Scorpius laughed to himself

When they got home Scorpius took Rose upstairs and pushed her into her room "Put on something nice, like a dress or something" Scorpius said as he closed the door on her, but Rose put her foot in the way and pulled it back open

"Why?" 

"Just...Please?" Scorpius said, walking down to his room to change

"Isn't this nice?"

"Yes, it's lovely, I mean something less casual" Scorpius walked into his room and shut the door.

Rose laughed to herself and shut her door and then lent against it thinking. She walked over to the wardrobe and opened it up. She pushed all the casual clothes to the side and looked at the dresses she had in there. There was the red one she wore to the ball, she couldn't were that one. There was a midnight blue coloured one that was very tight fitting and there was a knee-length green one. She decided to wear that one as the blue one was too tight for her sometimes. She undressed and slipped the dress on. The dress was very pretty and fitted her perfectly. It was dark green and the skirt puffed out at her waist. At the belt, near to the right side, was a group of green roses. The top of the dress wrapped round her body to two sleeves that were elbow-length. Rose put on her green pumps and put on a bit of gold eyeshadow. She put her belongings into a gold bag and pulled her hair into a bun and fastened it with a band that matched the colour of her hair. She took one last look of herself in the mirror, grabbed a gold cardigan in case it got cold and went outside the room to find Scorpius.
