I took a step back as Puppy sat up to look firmly at me.

"Puppy--"

"Don't say my name like that. Like I'm stupid."

I blinked a bit astonished. "I'm not implying you're stupid Puppy. It's just a big step."

"Big step, big step, big step. You always say that. But we've taken lots of big steps. I'm ready to take this one--aren't you?"

Was I?

Danny was as always in my mind.

I'd been his first.

The night has been beautiful. A nice, candle lit dinner on the patio, wine, music--so cheesy. But Danny...he loved it. We danced and laughed and then took it upstairs. What happened next was slow and sweet, the perfect concoction of passionate and passive. He was single handedly the best sex partner I'd ever had.

"I'm not sure Puppy."

His bottom lip trembled. "You're thinking about Danny."

My heart squeezed and I looked away to blink tears out my eyes. I wished he was here. Not that i didn't enjoy Puppy--I did--things were just never this complicated back then.

"You do love me right?"

"Of course Puppy." I was a bit insulted he had to ask.

We'd done a lot of work--if I didn't care I wouldn't be trying.

"Then make love to me."

His words were so confident. I was amazed by the fact he was truly grown up.

I slowly nodded my head. "You've been very patient Puppy. If you want to do this then we will."

He looked shocked. "Really? You mean it?"

"Come with me."

After a quick, somewhat awkward crash course in personal prep, Puppy was left to his own devices.

I was confident he could handle his own body while I tried to ensure I could go through with this.

Danny was gone.

I wasn't cheating on him.

"Scott?"

I turned and there Puppy stood.

Glowing.

Naked.
