"Is Scott a Switch?"

Robtoy looked at me. The question wasn't out of the blue--we were talking about how I felt about the cheating. "Why would you think that?"

"Cos of some stuff he told me."

"Can I hear some of this stuff?"

I paused and shook my head. "You can ask him. It's not my story to tell."

Robtoy hummed. "I met Scott after Danny died and it took me about three sessions to realize he was a Switch. I never brought it up to him--he was following a Dom lifestyle--and I regret that."

"You knew?"

"True Switches are exceptionally rare. They're neither Dom nor Sub which causes a lot of problems in intimate relationships." Robtoy explained briefly. "Especially because neither a sub or a Dom can fully meet their needs. I think that's why Scott strayed. I don't doubt that he loves you Charlie."

"How can I love him if I don't trust him?" I asked stressfully. "Every second he leaves I wonder who he's with. And having sex with him is...awful."

"Why is it so awful?"

"It doesn't feel special anymore. I wonder...who else he's been inside or," my face burned. "Who's been inside of him."

"Scott feels terribly about what happened Charlie."

"It's like he's making excuses. I understand his childhood was rough but--" I paused as Robtoy raised a brow.

"Scott is very closed off about his past with me. The fact you know more than I do is...a bit upsetting to be honest."

"I guess I could tell you a little," I decided slowly. "But don't tell Scott okay?"

"I'll do my best. But if I feel that I can help Scott with this information, I will."

"Scott was bullied a lot. His dad died and he...had a relationship with his stepfather." I summarized as briefly as possible.

"Was the relationship consensual?"

"He says he fell in love. But he died in a plane crash."

"And his mother found out?"

"Yeah!"

"That makes sense. Charlie, the only thing you can do is try to be more fluid role-wise. It won't be easy but the key is to recognize when Scott needs a sub and when he needs a Dom. He's always had the support of another Dom in his life--Kyle. Whenever he was stressed out he could turn to him. Kyle was unknowingly providing the dominance he needed. And without him he found a new outlet."

I crossed my arms. "I asked once if I could...top...and he refused."

"It's more than just sex. Sex will be a component but that comes back to reading his signs. He'll let you know when he wants to take on a dominate role--you just need to look."

"Maybe we can talk to him about it?"

"Scott will get defensive. The term 'Switch' is actually a slur but it's the most commonly known phrase for the condition. The textbook term is Dissociative Role Behavior or DRB. It's not just a psychological disorder. It's physical as well. They those inflicted with DRB don't fit into the growth charts for either Doms or subs. There have been a dozen attempts as building one for DRB individuals but they're so rare and vary so greatly none have been successful."

"If there's all these things wrong with him--how come I never noticed?"

"You did. Erratic behaviors, moments where he had no interest in you and seemed annoyed... Had you been looking, the signs were there."

I nodded my head after a moment. "So what can you do to help him?"

"Help him come to self acceptance of his condition. Until then he'll constantly sabotage anything of value you two build."

"How can I be a Dom if I'm a sub?" I sighed after a long moment. "Besides the sex. That's the only easy part."

"Physically you can initiate contact. You can make decisions the way he has done for you in the past. You can comfort him and offer reassurance when you see him stressed. The little things will make a huge difference for you two."

"And Bailey thinks he's straight now," I blurted.

"I'm sorry?"

"Leah and Bailey. They're... y'know!"

"My. Well, I suppose their happiness is all that matters."

"I disagree. I want Kyle to come back."

"I believe the chances of that are slim to none. So maybe you can work it out instead of willing things to change?"

"I guess." I mumbled.

"That's our time for today. I'll see you next week alright? And remember what I said."

"I will. Thank you."
