Robtoy was right.

Taking the time to just kick back and relax without Puppy under my feet and asking a million questions was...heavenly. I watched the news for the first time in months, cracked open a couple of beers, and absorbed the quiet peacefulness.

I took a walk around the property and went for a long ride along the trails down back.

Everything was how it was before Puppy.

As I sat at the table with cup of coffee and a hamburger the silence really sunk in. I missed the pattering of his feet. I missed his voice. His naivety.

I missed Puppy.

I looked at my phone. It's been just over three hours--Bailey had agreed to watch him until five but with the baby I was sure it was a bit much.

I missed my independence as well. I needed Puppy to branch out--to find his own way. I wanted to go an hour without Puppy hunting me down to ask some pointless question and use it as an excuse to cling.

Robtoy insisted he was working on it but I hadn't seen a change.

It was frustrating but Robtoy always reminded me that Puppy had special needs and I needed to accommodate. I needed to be patient. And if I pushed him too far it could devastate him.

Robtoy said he felt like Puppy viewed me as a parental figure then his Dom and that was the source for a lot of our problems. But drawing that line proved difficult.

My plan to do so by introducing sec had gone terribly wrong and I didn't want to try again too soon. It'd been weeks however...maybe it wasn't too soon?

I lifted my beer and paused.

Alcohol helped people relax--maybe it'd do the same for Puppy?

Was I taking advantage of him?

Was it worth it?

When I picked up Puppy, Kyle was already home.

He answered the door with his left arm overfilled with dirty bottles and clothes. "Hey. Sorry about the mess."

Their kid was crying as Bailey tried desperately to get him to take a bottle. "He's watching a movie," Bailey said shortly. A timer went off and Bailey cursed.

"Relax," Kyle said. "I'll take the pan out. You're doing fine."

Bailey smiled briefly. He looked like he could use a solid week of sleep but he worked diligently and patiently with trying to comfort his son.

Puppy was sitting on the rug, oblivious to the mess surrounding him. I was a bit disappointed he wasn't helping.

He was more than capable. "Puppy why don't go wash some bottles for Bailey?"

Puppy spun around looked deeply offended. "No! I wanna go home. I don't like Bailey."

"Puppy!"

"He woke Kingsley up ten minutes after Bailey got him down. Bailey got bitchy and told him he was babysitting him. Bailey apologized but Puppy says he won't ever forgive him. His words not mine."

"Puppy," I began to sigh.

"No! You told me a fib so you could go be that sub from the doctor's office!"

"Don't yell at me and no I did not."

Puppy got to his feet and crossed his arms with a pout. "Why did you send me away?"

"I'm not having this conversation with you here. Go get in the truck."

He whined furiously and stomped out slamming the door. The baby cried even louder and his parents groaned collectively. "I'm so sorry," I said instantly, reaching for my wallet.

Kyle shook his head at the bill. "It wasn't any trouble for Bailey I'm sure."

Bailey scoffed quietly and went into the kitchen. Kyle sucked on his teeth. "Sorry about that."

"I can only imagine how overwhelming it is."

I tucked the note under a few envelopes as Kyle shook his head. "At least we know one day he'll be self sufficient."

He was talking about Puppy. And yet I had nothing I could really say. So I forced a smile. "Maybe someday?" I asked hopefully.

"Not if you don't put your foot down Scott. I'm sorry but that boy is beyond spoiled. He's actually quite rude."

There was nothing worse than being told your sub wasn't good enough. It wasn't it of spite either--Kyle looked genuinely concerned. "Has he gotten that bad?"

"He doesn't respect you at all Scott. Not as his Dom. And unless you take back control, I don't know if he ever will."

The scary part was Kyle was absolutely right.
