"Turn around a moment and let me out this on you."

Puppy kept staring at the ground. He looked up at me suddenly, eyes unusually dull. He blinked at me slowly. "No I can't... Why is that..." He trailed off and took a few quick breathes. "I don't feel good Scott."

The salesman let out a small noise of worry. A bit embarrassed I forced a smile. "Now now Puppy. You're fine. I know it's been a long day but don't misbehave now."

He started to sob quietly suddenly and I was instantly concerned.

Until I realized he was faking. "If you're going to pretend to cry you might as well muster up a few tears for Christ's sake!"

Puppy went to wipe his eyes and looked at me in confusion. I rolled my eyes. I thought we were done with this kind of thing. "I'm sorry. I'll take this one with a display please."

He gave me a tight smile and a look that suggested I had no control over my sub. I was furious. I passed over my credit card and grabbed Puppy's arm. He was hot to the touch and I could feel his pulse racing through his wrist.

"Are you alright?" I asked as noticed the way he was heaving chest.

"I don't feel good," he whispered again.

"Alright... Just hold tight for a minute. I'll turn up the AC in the car. You're probably overheated."

I waited impatiently for him to ring me up before he passed me the display, my card and the receipt. "Thanks," I said shortly.

I placed my hand on his upper back leading him outside. He began to pant a bit as we left the air conditioned building. I clenched my jaw a bit and hustled him to the car quicker. He stumbled a bit over his feet a few times.

In the parking garage he got sick.

I racked my brain for what could be wrong. I assumed at first it was something he ate but he was never like this when he had a poor food reaction. This sickness was different.

I was getting really concerned.

I cranked the AC in the car and helped him in.

I sat there for a bit watching him. "I'm thirsty," he whispered hoarsely.

He seemed a bit more lucid at this point and his breathing had slowed a bit. "Are you going to get sick again?"

"I don't know."

"Alright. Let's go to the store and I'll get you a drink."

He hadn't had much to drink really at all today. Partly because I had forgotten about his request in the hotel room and partly because I didn't need him whipping out a sippy cup.

I parked by the curb and left the AC going. Inside I grabbed a few bottles of water. Once given to him Puppy sucked down the entire bottle. "Careful," I warned tensely as he coughed and sputtered.

He drained the bottle in less than a minute and reached for the second. "Let's wait a minute," I advised as he panted.

"I'm thirsty," he whimpered.

"Catch your breath," I told him firmly.

I set down the bottle and quickly searched excessive thirst. As I scrolled down dehydration popped up. Suddenly it made all the sense in the world. Had could I have ignored such a basic need for so long?

While there were more stops I needed to make I decided to take Puppy back to hotel. He was whining about more water the whole way. I stopped briefly to get a new key and requested the replacement cost be billed to me.

In my room I turned up the AC and got some cool clothes. His skin felt fevered and I worried he needed to go to hospital.

He's been too many times.

His skin began to cool down and his drinking turned less desperate. I sighed out and called more bottles of water to be sent up. After a while Puppy looked at me. "I'm cold."

That was a good thing. I touched his chest, back and face. His skin was cool to the touch and had the elasticity of someone hydrated. "We can lay down if you'd like?" I suggested, relieved.

He nodded and climbed into the bed. "Can I see my new collar?"

"It's in the car. I can get it if you'd like?"

"No." He wrapped his arms around me. "I was a bad boy today."

"You didn't feel good. I was a Dom ignoring you when you said you were thirsty."

"I didn't earn a drink?"

"You don't earn necessities Puppy. You earn juice and toys but never water or food."

"Can I have some jello?"

"How about you eat some oatmeal and tonight you can have some."

He sighed and sat up. "I didn't like the oatmeal at the bee place. It tasted funny."

It had a taste, I thought. He was so used to the tastelessness that any actual flavor was off putting. It was sad for me because I was trying to wean him off of it but he didn't want to change over completely. Financially it wasn't a problem. A box lasted almost a month and cost at most six bucks but were always on sale.

I called down to the desk and ordered a serving to be brought up.

"We have an important dinner right?"

I opened my eyes groggily and blinked at the alarm clock. I wasn't even aware I had fallen asleep. I shook my head wearily. Tonight dinner had been a mere celebration for a jockey who owned the horse that was racing.

There was no gain for me to go except praise.

But Puppy was more important than complements.

"I decided not to go," I mumbled. "Lay back down with me?"

"But we slept forever," he groaned.

I looked at him and he toyed with Milo's ear for a moment. "Will Daddy cuddle with me?"

I forced a smile and sat up. "Of course buddy. Let's find a movie."
