Chapter 10

Logan's POV

Logan came home from work, and walked straight to the wet bar. He made himself a drink, downing it and then pouring another right away.

Odette walked out of their bedroom in a sexy negligee. "Hey baby?" she asked in a sultry tone.

He took the second shot.

"Yeah?" He asked, pouring himself another drink, and then checking his phone. He hasn't even looked up long enough to notice her.

"So I was thinking... instead of having two separate parties, why don't we combine your bachelor party with my bachelorette party? My brother and sister-in-law have offered to plan everything for us" she said, running her fingertips down his arm, taking his phone from his hand, forcing him to pay attention to her.

"What? That's not really fair, Odette. My friends have been planning this trip to Vegas for a really long time" he objected, totally unaffected by the outfit she was wearing.

"Well, I guess we'll just have to have the girls come to Vegas with you and the guys, then" she insisted with a smile.

"I know I'm new to all the premarital stuff and all, but I thought the whole point of those parties were to do them separately to celebrate the end of your single life" he said with a laugh.

"Unless you've got something to hide, I don't see the problem..." she said, losing patience.

He downed another shot. "I don't have anything to hide" he said with a laugh, hoping to pacify her. It didn't.

"Good. Then I'll call my sister-in-law and tell her to move our party to Vegas with yours!" She said, happy she won the discussion.

"Great" he said with fake enthusiasm.

He walked into the bedroom briefly, and then came back out wearing a different shirt. "I'm going out with the boys tonight while they're still in town" Logan said, buttoning up his sleeves.

"No, I don't think so" Odette said simply.

"I'm sorry, but... What? I didn't realize I'd asked a question..." he said with a surprised laugh, assuming she was kidding.

"I just don't think it's a very good idea. I don't want you wasting away, binge drinking with those lowlifes this close to the wedding. I need to have you looking your best for our pictures. I already kicked my nephew out for giving us awful pictures, don't make me have to kick you out of them as well" she said with a laugh, "besides, we're scheduled to make an appearance at the gala tonight, and I just simply can't fly solo this close to the wedding. What would everyone think?" She explained.

"First of all, those 'lowlifes' are my best friends, Odette. I've already made plans with them for the evening and it's rude to cancel on them, just to go with you to some stuffy party that I wouldn't have wanted to go to anyway" he said.

"Aww, I'm afraid you don't have a choice, Logan. It's in our marital contract. We must appear at all social events together, for at least an entire year" she shot back.

"Marital contract? First of all, we're not married yet, Odette. Secondly, there's no 'marital contract' until we are. But, is that all this is to you? A contract?" he asked with an eyebrow raised, and then throwing back another shot.

"Don't be so dramatic, Logan." She said.

He started to pour another, but stopped himself. "Can I ask you something?" He asked instead.

"Hmm?" She asked, preoccupied with fumbling through her purse for her cigarettes.

"Do you even love me?" He asked.

"You're drunk. Again. And you wonder why I think you need better friends?" She asked.

"Just answer the damn question, Odette... Do you ACTUALLY love me or are you in on this giant charade also?" he asked, starting to get irritated.

"Where is this coming from? Your friends don't like me, so they try to turn you against me? Is that it? You know how I feel about you" she purred, running his fingertips along his chest.

"No, actually. I don't. I know you love my family's society status, you love the master plan our parents came up with to merge our two families together - creating some sort of dynasty - but no" he said, pausing long enough to down drink number five. "I have absolutely NO idea how you actually feel about ME!" he snapped, slamming his drink down on the table which made her jump.

She looked bewildered. "You're drunk, Logan! I can't talk to you when you're like this!" She yelled, pulling away from him.

"Well, we don't talk when I'm sober either, Odette!" He snapped.

"How would you know? You've barely been sober for our entire relationship!" She shot back.

He couldn't take it anymore. "Do we even HAVE a relationship, Odette? Or is this just some legal partnership our parents dreamed up!?" He yelled at her.

"Get out!" She screamed. "You got your wish, go run off to your 'boys' and leave your responsibilities at home" she continued, "and don't come back until you're sober!" She picked up his whisky glass and hurled it at the wall. It shattered into millions of tiny pieces.

"Forget this" he muttered, walking out the door.

"You sure as hell better figure this shit out before the wedding, Logan! I'm not going to let you humiliate me!" she yelled after him as he walked down the hallway of the apartment.
