"Mum you need to go to the hospital" I cried to my mum who has just gotten beaten up by my father badly, too badly that he broke her wrist and her eye is swollen so badly.

The reason this time: my dad thinks she's cheating on him. Why does he think that even though my mum hardly ever goes out. Only God knows.

I have been literally on my knees begging her to go to the hospital because no wrist should look the way her wrist looks right now and her swollen eye. Oh God I gag every time I look at it. But of course my mum is refusing to go saying it will  heal by itself in due time and i agree but it will heal by itself with medical attention

"Chidera it will heal by itself how many times do I have to say it?!" She replies harshly.

"Mum, we can just say that you fell down the stairs and hurt you wrist when you landed." I tell her, making up a quick and believable lie.

"Great! what would we say about my freshly punched eye" She sarcastically agreeing with me

"That you walked into a pole?" I reply lamely.

"Yes that would work too." She says again sarcastically.

"Mum please I'll go with you, so I can back up what you say, please let's go now because you know how long A&E take and whilst dad is not here." I try to persuade.

She sighs heavily telling that she's considering what I'm saying and I slyly smile in victory.

"Mummy go doctor" Chadley says. Icing on the cake, she'll definitely agree to go now.

"Okay fine, let me get ready, you get ready and help Chadley too please, Angel" She agrees, referring to me by her nickname for me.

"Of course mummy" I say kissing her cheek and taking a hold of Chad's little hand and leading him to my room.

My phone buzzes loudly whilst tying Chadley's laces, I quickly get up to see what it is and smile when I see it's from Maurice.
